Wiring batteries in parallel vs. serial?

I wonder how long it will be until someone markets a lithium metal based car battery. I bet you could get the equivalent power to the common lead-acid battery but with something that might only weigh a pound.

Of course the battery would probably cost $1500.

Did you go with the Miata battery? How do you know if it is a gel battery or just sealed (still lead acid)? The website you listed on the other thread didn't really say, so I thought you may have gotten some more info with the purchase.
