Does Kirkham offer painted cars?
Does Kirkham offer painted cars or just polished/brushed, etc. . .?

I am sure they can have one painted for you but they do not paint them at the shop. The standard car would be ready for a painter to block sand and paint. chuck

We quit painting cars long ago. We do know a few shops that do high quality work, but they truly are few and far between and the work is quite expensive. (Of course, any work that is nice is usually quite expensive.)
Painting a car was harder, (for me at least) than MAKING a car! Most of our cars are just left sanded today, but some still paint their cars.

David,
In order to have the car painted, if I used one of the shops you recommend, would they just get the body or an assembled car?
Would the car than be taken apart for paint?
When you say expensive, what ball park are you in? $4000 to $5000 or $10,000 to $15,000?

Mike McClusky had a painter at the last KMP Summit to talk about painting AL cars. Good talk and gave a general ballpark number about $13K for their work -- obviously contact them for specifics.

Bruce Bunn at Jodeco Autobody in MacDonough, GA also does nice work on KMPs. His number is 770-954-1855.

We generally advise people to put the car completely together and then to paint the car. That way, heaven forbid, if the engine has to come out or who knows what, you will not have to worry about scratching the paint twice.
When everything is happy, then you can paint it. If the painter is good it is really not a problem to make the car off right.
The chrome removal and such is not that much time. A few hours at most.
