David,

Thanks for showing us the "inside" story of the surge tank. Also thanks for
sending me the FE surge tank. Looking forward to getting it!

David,
Do you sell the tanks without the logo?

Finally got around to installing the tank...fits great. We beaded off the shine and swirls, which look nice but don't fit my engine compartment theme (brushed like the body), and then I took some Scotchbriting to it. Moved the radiator line fitting for a shorter route on this fitment.

This is one of the bestest things the guys make IMO.

Looks great Jamo - think I'll do the same to mine before it goes into #142.
Matches the exterior to a "T".

That does look good.

I noticed that the cap is in different locations on different cars. Is that simply a matter of unbolting the top half and rotating it through 180 degrees?

I don't have the additional outlet on my header tank to go to the top of the rad. What does that do and what am I missing out on by not having it?

There are small lines from the tank. The one at the cap is obviously the pressure overflow. The one that goes from the top of the radiator to the top of the tank is an air bleeder line. This lets the air at the top of the radiator bleed up to the top of the surge tank. Thus all of the air should go to the top of the surge tank and any pressure will bleed air off at the cap before coolant. It works great!

I'm going to buff mine out this winter.

Jamo, where did you get the rubber seal around the turkey pan? I remember there being a thread about the turkey pan and a seal was mentioned, but I never followed up.

So I will ask the question again, does anyone know if these tanks will fit under the hood of an ERA 427 car?

If it doesn't fit just send it back. No big deal.

I think this is your answer.

I like that - good to have a credible source

If I knew you better I'd probably write...

but I don't so you'll have to go without

That's right...you don't.

Actually...knew him for a few decades, but the responsive comment (or "name dropping" as you say) had more to do with making it clear that there was nothing special about the stuff.
