Oil Pan Clearence?
What is the deepest oil pan I can have on AN FE'd Kirkham? Looking for distance from bottom of block to the bottom of frame rails.
Seems like some guys are runnung stok pans which are about 5 1/2 inches. I want to use a truck oil pan which is 6 1/4 in. Mainly because they are almost industrictable from a hit.

I have the aviad and would caution you that using a pan deeper than 6" may cause the pan to be lower than the frame rails. At least that is the measurement on mine. Pond block.

Thanks, that is what I needed to know. I do not want to be below the frame.

I had a few idea's during the build to make the beast handle a little better, one was to lower the engine. The T-pan was about 2 1/2 inches below the frame so, I added teflon skids for protection...works great, although I will never be able to navigate speed bumps...about the only time they rub is when I'm at a good speed and hit a low spot in he pavement.
See my pics...

I agree, the bottom of the pan is even with the bottom of the main frame rails, crossmember, using the standard engine mounts. I believe there may be the possiblity of using other, lower engine mounts, and you may have to run a dry sump with that application

Armondo's Racing pan is a good alternative to Aviad. Basically the same pan but cheaper. http://www.streetperformance.com/ind...edlisting=3408
I bought one based on recommendations and couldn't be happier. Their service and support is excellent. Armando worked for Aviad for years before starting his own company.

or some of us are running Canton Pans that allow only 3 1/2" of clearance. In almost six years never a problem on or off the track.
