what options to get
hi there just wondering what are the most common options the people get on their kirkham cobra? was on their web site (build pricing) and some things i cant make heads or tails of. what would be the things to get and what things are not worth getting.
also anyone here know anyone who had a kirkham shipped into canada, what was involved in it what costs,
any help on this would be great
also if the owners dont mind... what did you pay for your kirkham? with out motor and trans, whats the wait time on the car to be completed, anyone have a roush motor in their cobra. whats the most common engine and trans combo installed it the kirkham.
thanks for the help

First, I'm not a Kirkham owmer...yet. However, I believe the overwhelming engine of choice for a 427 Kirkham is an FE. Either a 390, 427 or 428. Windsor-based (289, 302 and 351) engines are the most common for the FIA Kirkhams. Toploader's and Tremec TKO600's seem to be installed in about equal numbers, but I'm not real sure,, since I haven't seen any polls. The wait time will be based upon options chosen, but as of a few weeks ago, the wait time was about 6-8 weeks. Your best bet is to call Kirkham and they can answer all your questions. Good luck.

I think you may be out of luck importing it into Canada.
Do a search, and you will find post addressing this.
Transport Canada states "NO KIT CARS"
Let us know if you find out different.

turn key minus may be thought of differently than a kit.
do not get the aluminum diff; a jag diff is fine and much cheaper.
the stainless steel frame is not needed
the small gas tank(still 30 gallons) is fine
standard brakes are fine
I would have the carpet done at an upholstery shop
standard Penske shocks are fine
A 427 FE is the only motor to consider for the 427 body style car(one of the new aluminum blocks is a nice upgrade). chuck smith

MY will be here in couple of hours.
I got:
Stanless Steel Frame & Roll Bar- It is simply artwork.
SS Sidepipes- on the way.
All the Kirkham Billet upgrade- because it is a Kirkham car not a CSX car.
Batteries behind the seat- crazy bur cool.
Regular tires-I plan on another set of wheels w/ track tires.
Big gas tank- I liked the way it fit under the car.
TKO trans mount-
Big brakes
I will be putting in a pretty stock 427 SO with solid lifters and big cam. Has a very, very low rotating weight. 80 grams per cyl lower. No powder coating on inside, no fancy carpet. Pretty much it. I did go with the leather steering wheel, the Kirkham wood one does not look right to me- too dark. I also got the roller. They do a very good job and it should be alittle more standard.

Another note:
I am using the jag rear end. I also upgraded the shocks.

any of you have pics of ur cars? during build? im looking into this importing into canada thing. if that fails then im limited to a backdraft or a superformance, the backdraft seems to be priced better then the spf , over here a spf will fetch about 70 - 75 grand canadian, used with a good motor and trans combo.

Wow! Using today's exchange rates that's $62-66 grand U.S. I should sell mine to a Canadian and buy new here.

The adjustable seat tracks and Halon fire suppression would seem to be a nice options to have as well.

(if any) will be hard to do for in canada there is no kirkham dealer. well the first thing to do is look into the shipping to canada.
