Don't forget to factor in lost opportunity costs - i.e., income/growth from the capital if it had been invested savings/bonds, etc.

In my case the "wife" is the one who got me back onto the Cobra wagon. Yes I know she is a rare find and to her credit she even insists on a larger garage for all the tools and project cars. She says its important that we both have something we enjoy as a hobby and while my wife will come out and get dirty helping if you ask or just bring food and drink while I'm under some car or truck. Like the majority of people on here we do have the extra income to have such expensive hobbies so looking at one of these cars as an investment was not our reasoning. As long as we don't lose a great deal of money and it provides fun times and new friends it makes us both happy.

Years worth of muscle cars and street rods made me some money but most of them can't be driven often enough or hard enough if a track day presents itself for fear of something rare breaking or a scratch on a $15k paint job. This was the major reason for the Cobra. A car done as well as your's will hold value, just maybe not 100%. I'm a very lucky man to have a wife who loves cars in general as much as I do. That said if your wife understands how it makes you happy and the pride you have in your car and efforts then you are a lucky man yourself. Sounds like you are pretty lucky to me... Great car and understanding wife, even if she doesn't love the walls shaking when you start it for a ride.

Yeah I'm a bit off the point, but your car is really something to be proud of.

I have been fooling around with Cobras since 1988, I am on my fith one now-A Kirkham. I do all the work myself, motors, paint, etc.- It is true therapy for me. I have always made a few bucks on the sale. If you farm most of the work out I believe Mr Mustang is right you will loose about 15-20%.
To answere your question, I would start at 95K for your car and then go down depending on a credable offer and of course how bad you need to sell. I would not take less than 85K personaly. So the value in my book- 95k to 85K. Good luck and don't worry about driving the hell out of it I do not feel it matters to the buyer- to some buyers a well sorted car is more valuable.
