Header/Sidepipe question for the Kirkham Bros.
David/Tom,
How is the header and sidepipe project coming along? Have you all got a feel for the new tube bender? When we last spoke, you figured to be getting a handle on the 427 pipes within the month and fia ones a little later on.
How is it going? An inquiring mind would like to talk to you about a set.
The previous thread might have been a little confusing as to who I was asking the question...sorry.
Mike

Tom,
How is the progress going on tube bending project? I would imagine priority is for the 427 cars.....if so, how much longer for headers and sidepipes for the 289 fia's??
It is really nice to see the progress you all have made with respect to no welding on the headers thus far.
I am seriously interested in a set of my FIA.
Thanks,
Mike

I was on track to get her buttoned up by the end of summer, but my wife and I had twin girls the end of August so my schedule got pushed back.
I'm looking to be on the road by the end of the month.

JJ,
Thanks for the feedback. Did you purchase the headers and sidepipes?
Are you using them as is or are you ceramic coating them?

I got both the stainless steel headers and sidepipes. I'm still undecided on the finish, but am leaning towards plain old black VHT. I can snap some pics and post them tomorrow if you would like.

Lovely...ever consider leaving 'em raw and just wiping them down with WD-40when warm...they'll get that golden tone over time.

I did consider leaving them bare or scotchbriting them, but I just like the look of black pipes. I can always get the VHT blasted off later if I change my mind.
If I went the the polished body, the pipes would have to be polished too. Keith's car looks good.
