Default External Clutch Slave Cylinder for QT Bellhousing?

Is there an external clutch slave cylinder setup available for the Quicktime bellhousing yet? I thought maybe the Kirkhams might be working on one. Thank you.

Hi Rod,
The external slave kit for the Quick Time and Lakewood bellhousings I sell and install. I designed this billet aluminum fork, external slave kit. The kit sells for $300.00.
I also designed one that uses an OEM style fork to be used with a 1 3/8" Top Loader for $325.00 or another unit that fits the 1 1/16" Top Loader for $275.00

I think ERA has one. They mention the QT bellhousing as an option on the website. I forgot to ask them about it when I was there.

Hi Mike,
Will your QT setup work with a TKO600? Again, thank you.

Hi,
I have many versions for the FE, 429/460 & SB Ford (GM, AMC & Mopar too).
I have Quick Time bellhousings in both TKO-600 or TKO-500 with the stock input. I then have Quick Time bellhousings that will mount a Top Loader length input.
I also sell a Lakewood with a spacer plate for the TKO-600, I install short input shafts into either the TKO-600 & TKO-500.
Forte's (that's me) developed the GM & Early Ford TKO & 3550 from a stock Tremec 3550 & TKO. I also developed the firewall adjustable quadrant kit for the Mustang and the external billet fork & slave kit for most aftermarket bellhousings.

I talked to KMP a couple of weeks ago and at that time they were still in the very early stages developing a clutch setup for the QT bellhousing.
I just did a preliminary dial in on my QT bellhousing and am going to install the hydraulic TOB for use with the Tremec 600.
I did not want to send off my new BH to be worked on, wanted to do it myself. I am working with a company called The Driven Man for components, a one man company but really on top of it with great service.

Can you use a stock fork and a Wilwood external slave? Summit sells the slave for about $60 as I recall. Very easy to mount and set up.

Hi,
The Wilwood slave is very prone to failure at the O-rings that seal the hydraulic oil. It is an easier fix than the hydraulic throw out bearing. when it fails you must remove the transmission (where it happens) and try to repair it with a repair kit. VERY EXPENSIVE to fix.... if you can!!!!

Wrong style in question...
The Wilwood slave I used is pictured below. Used -4 line and a heim joint to mount the slave to the trans crossmember (it is a 'pull' type). Drilled one 5/16 hole in the oe fork and mount her up. No need to remove trans IF it leaks, and so far it has been a-ok.

Rodney,
I just got the QT housing and external slave from Mike. Very nice piece of work. Great service from Mike as well.

When I called Kirkham they didn't have one available for the QT housing yet, just the Lakewood. The QT bellhousing is real nice, half the weight and didn't require any trimming to fit in the frame or for ground clearance.

Scott,

Plagiarism is the sincerest form of flattery. I hope you don't mind, but I'm trying to copy you by getting the QT bellhousing, but I wasn't aware that someone makes the external slave cylinder for it yet. However, now I know. I plan to call Mike Forte on Monday and order the entire setup. Thank you.

Rodknock,

I came up with an external bracket and slave cylinder for a quick bellhousing. I mainly use it for a 351 based motors but it shouldn't matter if a using a big block, as long as you are using a tremec transmission.. such as a TKO 500 or 600. If you are interested give me a call at 859-630-9099.

Bill,
Will your setup work for a Cleveland? What slave do you use, and what's the cost for the whole setup?

Hi,
I spoke with someone earlier with a 1 3/8" Toploader. With that I use a modified stock fork, throwout bearing & billet slave & bracket. This applies to FE, 429-460 & SB Ford with the big input including Clevelands.
All other clutches are diaphram and will work on all the above Ford engines. These are all tried & proven.

Mike,
What's your setup for a Cleveland with a 10 1/2" flywheel and a TKO 600?

Hi 767,
The external kit on a new McLeod blowshiels is $675.00. On a Quick Time is $675.00 or $50.00 more for the SFI approved model.

767,

It will fit if you are using a quick time bellhousing with a TKO-500 or 600. I can supply the bracket and the slave cylinder. $75.00 + shipping.

The Kirkhams have just developed their setup where a hole is drilled into the QT bellhousing and the opening is trimmed. No welding required. Mike Forte's design welds a mount to the QT bellhousing for the slave cylinder. Would anyone have any info on which setup is better/stronger setting aside cost...for the moment. Thank you.
