This was a booger of a part to make. This is the rear wheel well. This part connects the rear bulkhead to the door sils. It has to be really beefy to carry the loads from the rear suspension forward. A lot of chips ended up on the floor with this part. This was the most complicated part on the car. It was milled with all 4 axis' of the machine moving at the same time. The code makes your head hurt if you watch it too long.

The flat spot is for seat clearance. The seat actually sits directly on this part. The driver's head is actually BEHIND the leading edge of the rear tire! Now you know why they don't make 90 inch wheel base cars anymore! The 90 inch wheel base caused us tremendous engineering challenges.

Here is a shot of the rear of the car. You can see it was very complicated as we had to move the loads AROUND the rear tires.

I think this car needs a "flip-top" body to show off the suspension!

If you ever build another one of these cars for a customer, you know someone is going to want side pipes.

David Kirkham 06-06-2008 10:26 AM

Already got that one covered! We designed a new piece with a side pipe hole in it! That next customer being ME!

No sidepipes on this jewel, huh?

I now see the body of Raquel Welch...with the face of Janet Reno. :D

(EDIT: And, yes, I hope the owner writing the million dollar checks reads that!)

Refreshing to read that a guy with that much money also has excellent taste and doesn't want to muck up that gorgeous body shape with bits and do-dads hanging off it.
Not if we can get him to ditch the rollbar and QJs. :3DSMILE:

The amount of (global) magazine coverage that this car could receive is boundless.

No, sidepipes on this one. Or the next jewel either...

Keep teasing us like this and the next time you go into your office someone will have installed a brass pole. :D

Does anyone think that it is an accident that the coupe is in the background of that last picture? :)

Here is a quick look at the seat belt set up.

We wanted them to be strong. Notice we loaded the seat belts in double shear as well.
