Sure you take a beating on resale, like everybody has and will in the future with any custom or hot rod car built 'their way'. There's hardly a custom car on the market that you could expect to get your money back on, ANY custom car. Stang, souped up ricer, 57 Chevy, you name it. Nothing's changed, it's still the same game.

Excaliber,
I could have not said it better myself in terms of trying to find the 'right' car. There are a lot of very nice 'used / nearly new' Cobras out there, most certainly of late. In my instance, I am looking for a small block 'street' car and there are not a lot to be had, especially when compared to the stroked small block or big block 427 cars (which are awesome, don't get me wrong, but not what I am after).
So, I'll probably wind up ordering a car, which is more money than finding one already built, but in the end, I'll get what I am looking for in a Cobra. Krikham makes some beautiful cars no doubt about it, especially to my eye the 289 slab side car. However, in my case when it's all said and done, it's probably a bit beyond my budget.

I agree some don't think that having all the options is wasteful. Obviously some have more money than sense. I happen to like the brushed finish and paid for it and the polished stripes. I figure when I get the car it will be ready to driv. I don't see the point of $5,000 for a SS frame or $5,000 for an alum rear. My Jag will probably run me $8-900 when it's finished (rebuilt). It is also just as strong. There is $9,000 right there. Billet gas tank straps and alum frames for the doors? There is a $1,000 I don't think will really change the performance much. Also $2 grand for the bigger gas tank? $1,500 for installed wool carpet? I think the brake and shock upgrade is a smart one. I guess if I had a disposable income then it wouldn't matter. Unfortunately, I'm just a lowly MD .

Thanks for all the nice comments. The thing that is funny right now is the Europeans are buying up all the cars. We have shipped several of them to Europe this year. Seems like every week or so we are packing up a container for Europe.
So far I have been happy our cars have really kept their values. There are certainly exceptions (both ways) but by and large, most of our customers drive their car for years and years and sell it for what they have in it.
Looking forward to seeing some of you guys at our Homecoming!
