Kirkham values.............

It seems that Kirkhams are bringing around $90,000 give or take. It seems that the mildly optioned car and the mega optioned car sell for about the same. Now i guess my n is small based on the 5 or so sales I've seen. We all remember the banned guy with $130,000 in his car. He got around $90,000.
Here is another example:
Dear ng8264723,

This is a consignment car. The customer has over $130,000 in the car. He was looking to sell the car in the $110,000 range. we did some research for him and asked him to lower the price down to $89,900. With 300 plus miles, its a great car. Please let me know how you would like to proceed.

I'm glad I didn't option my ride out through the roof. I got a few things I thought were necessary for myself.

that is a nice car if it is the blue one. The motor is marginal however.

Why marginal? What it a poor built engine? Have you seen it run?

I've had some recent calls and mine is listed @ $83.5K......not sure I still want to sell though.

It is interesting to watch the advertised pricing/sales on these cars.

Do I consider mine an investment.........kind of, but I purchased mine used and at a great price.

I know that I am glad I purchased KMP297 when I did and for what I did.

I question the statement the owner has 130K into the car as the Kirkham as optioned out lists for $ 74,920. Figure roughly 20K for the motor and transmission and you are still way off the 130K mark. As for Kirkham resales, recent ones have been between 65-85K...........With several listed between 78-85K and sitting on the market untouched for months at a time, as yet unsold....

I will have close to $60 in mine assembled with no powerplant. I have the motor and rear end but but as for the tranny I think I will buy a 5 speed. All said and done maybe $10 in parts and my assembly is free. So I will have $70. What could i sell it for? Who knows! But it does look like sales are way off. I laid off billet and wasteful stuff and went for more hardcore options

the market is soft for expensive toys right now that is for sure. My car sold really quickly and I did well on it since I bought it in 2004. I doubt 130 K also for that EBAY car, that motor cost 16 or so , add trans-2500 complete and Paint-5K. 100K tops. I had 63 in mine including webers.

I just do not like Southern motors

The amount of money people have put into their cars can vary widely depending on the quality of parts, paint, upholstery, and whether they do the work themselves or have it done professionally.

From this vantage point, every Kirkham needs to be assesed on a case by case basis, the car's value's Vary on quality of motor build, (old iron vs New Alum) 5 speed vs Top Loader, quality of entire assembly ... (pro vs garage novice), early cars #350 and below and registration = a quality car registered as 1965 is worth at least 10k more and options. With KCP building a solid 482 Alum 5 speed car at 105k, that is the benchmark. Some what of a recession market now, so market on a nice quality used Kirk, seems around 85k - 100k for a Quality build with say under 2,000 miles and Easy miles - not hard/track miles as I have seen. The early blue car mentioned may be good buy, @ 85k value especially if the paint is Outstanding (Quality paint is much more than 5k). does have 4 speed - and marginal engine, and the pipes and other items appear more than 300 miles. I think some newer high quality cars may appeciate a bit, as moving forward looks like potential unknown availablity and pricing for a brand new build, plus cars leaving country. Still, the best high performance hand crafted aluminum -inpendent billet suspension works of art avalaible for the pricing range. The asking prices for the sch hell bee cobra cars is still a mystery.

My response is "Who cares?" Buy it and enjoy it.

Everyone is different. Opinions vary. Wasteful to some, may not be wasteful to others. The costs to build a car can be a lot especially if you don't have the time or skill to finish them. As 4pipes states, and I agree, high quality parts and high quality work cost more. If you take your car to the track, then your car will cost even more for it to be properly setup. If you want a Weber-looking EFI setup from Thor, then add $10,000. You want a polish finish, then add $14,000.

I have never seen a completed running Kirkham sell for $65,000-$70,000. I think 004 (black with red stripes) sold for $60,000 on eBay and then later resold for $75,000. That's the cheapest that I've seen.

I am building mine to enjoy it. Perhaps even take for track outings. From the beginning I dediced to not be wasteful with options. I will be buying quality components, but I don't have the disposable income to wrap the dash with leather for $300 and $5 for a ss frame. I prefer stuff to make it go and handle. I did order the brake and shock option no bling there just go

a car is worth only what someone else is willing to pay for it. but a well optioned cobra from shelby or kirkham i believe is anywhere from 105,000 to 125,000. mind you, that is the best of everything. BIG FE and all

The Kirkham at First State Motorcars is very nicely done. I know it well. The suspension has been updated and the car received extra TLC at Kirkham's shop in Provo. (No, it is not my car.)

It's a rough market right now on high end Cobras. Mine is advertised at $86.5K and while there has been some interest it hasn't sold.

The thing that I have the most trouble understanding is this: How can you spend all the big bucks on a dream car like this and then only drive it a few hundred miles before selling it? It says it was registered in 2004. So that's like driving it less than 100 miles every year since it has been on the road.

Does someone like this mostly trailer the car to and from car shows?
