Default Kirkham Speedometer question

Does the Kirkham speedo include the sending unit? Does anyone have the dimensions of the sending unit. My trans tunnel is pretty tight and I don't have a lot of room right there.

Would it be possible to use a wheel speed sensor instead? Something like one of these? http://www.magsensors.com/geartooth.html#he

Thanks a pile.

I belive the sensor doesn't come with it. (it's setup to use the standard Ford sender)

The sender comes with the TKO, but other trannnies will require adapters. What kind of trans you running?

Here's the Ford - GM senders: http://www.speedhut.com/products-gau...uto-Sensor.htm (bottom of page)

The sending unit is not included. You can use one of the sensors Ronbo has linked to.

From what I remember the adapter for a Ford transmission sticks out a couple of inches.

On the Rush we built, we used the ABS (wheel speed sensor) off the rear wheel. It has worked great.

Jim,
We have worked with Speedhut to develop the gauge to work with the factory BDR/BMW sender. Will be selling them through our store very soon.

How soon? Like Monday? I've finally got fed up with the leak and I have pulled the speedo and cable out during some other repairs. I plan on having this resolved by the end of the week. This is peak Cobra season in Florida.

I did find the BMW sendor in the diff. This seems like a good solution. Although I have no plug or harness for it. That should be an easy work around.

I don't have "a couple of inches" for a sending unit. Max is about 1.5".

We can get a set together but it is more than a week. They are made to order since you get to pick the face, bezel, illumination, etc.

You could likely get them sooner from Speedhut direct. Make sure you talk with them and explain your application so they can be dialed in for your BDR.
