Too bad. A huge chunk of our populations does.

I will forever be grateful to Senor Turner of Wahlquist elementary school in 8th grade. He changed my life. He told me I was actually good at something in school when I didn't even know myself. He encouraged me. He gave his time up for me. He worked with me. He believed in me. I then studied Spanish for the next I don't know how many years.

Sometimes at night I tune into the Spanish channel to listen to the news. I love to hear that rapid-fire staccato as the words fire out like an ametralladaora.

My mother tell me that as your emotions go up, your intelligence goes down so I try to live and let live. As such, I do not mean to offend with my comments. But, as emails are pouring in, I need to say something.

You posted, "They [Kirkham bodies] don't fit a CSX without frame mods."

We have sold around 200 frame and bodies assemblies to Shelby. EVERY one of them had the body riveted to the chassis...we MADE and supplied BOTH items to Shelby (along with various other parts at various other times). We have never sold Shelby a bare body (as far as I can remember over the past 14 years. If I am wrong I apologize). I have no idea how anyone could know if our bodies fit their frames or not--I don't think anyone has ever tried. They don't even have one of our bodies to attempt the experiment.

Now, in the above paragraph, I am referring to the CSX4000, CSX7000, and CSX8000 cars Shelby is selling now.

As for the CSX2000 and CSX3000 cars, that is a very different story. I can tell you for a certain fact more than one of those original is now running around with our frame/body or both. (See the Shelby registry). These cars were raced and raced hard so they got bumped (sometimes hard). No one has ever complained our bodies don't fit on an original car...in fact, they keep buying more. Come to think of it, I digitized an original car, CSX3104, to get the body data. So, if our bodies don't fit a modern Shelby frame then I don't know what to tell you.

You posted, "And, I think one of my lawyers said that Shelby just filed a lawsuit against Kirkham." Shelby has not sued us. I think I would know if he had. That doesn't mean he won't sue us tomorrow, or the next day, but as of this time right now, he has NOT.

Why would he? Shelby has 2 cars on order with us right now that will be delivered in the next few days. We have supplied them cars for years and years and years. They pay their bills with us, pick up their cars when they say they will, and buy parts from us when they say they are going to. Gary, Dale, Amy and the bunch have always been quite nice to us and we have with them. We have no problem with them. I think sometimes people like to stir the pot and aren't happy when there nothing bubbles up from the bottom.

You posted, "No surprise there." Well. It would surprise me and I am quite sure it would surprise many other people too. Shelby knew about us as far back as 1996. They started purchasing frames and bodies from us in 1999 or 2000. It is now 2009. That is a long, long time to have a supplier, vendor relationship. It is a relationship we would like to keep going for another decade...or even longer.

David

David,
My sincere apologies for ruflling things up. I meant no disrespect and hold only the highest respoect for your cars and your reputation. You are correct in that the folks at Shelby are first-rate. They have helped me alot in the past and have always been the best. I was looking into trying to buy one of your bodies to put on a CSX4000 frame, and was told that there would be a problem at the door sill area. I understand that you fabricate your frames and bodies to be a perfect fit to each other. I was just inquiring.
You are correct on the heresay part regarding the lawsuit. I had been told about this from what I considered a reliable source. So much for trusting lawyers! After looking into it further, it appears that Carroll is suing Factory Five, NOT Kirkham. The lawsuit was filed on Dec 1, 2008.
Again, my sincere apologies for any headaches. I promise to behave. Your Mother is indeed a smart woman.
All my best and wishing you a great New Year.

-Michael

Michael,

No apologies needed. No offense taken. Jumping to conclusions and readily taking offense simply makes people want to shoot at each other--something our world could use a lot less of.

I am sure you were just passing along what someone else had said. Perhaps they mis-heard or mis-understood something. It happens.

I am not sure who told you, "there would be a problem at the door sill area." I don't know of any--but then again, I have never tried to do it and don't know anyone who has tried.

I was going to be the Guinea Pig and try your body on the CSX frame, but it would have been an expensive experiment and I have two kids to still get through college....

A couple years ago, "jdog" or Jerome was thinking of doing the same thing on CSX4795. He eventually sold the car, so he never did attempt it.

Ok, here's a link. I'm thinking about buying one myself. Can't change a engine but, It would make life easier for servicing, cleaning ect. They also have attachments for other duties.

got my Kwik Lift
Nice lift, but I'll use my jack stands for now, until I find the time/money to buy and install a lift in my garage.

I bet you could install an engine. I installed an engine from the side of the car, with a cherry picker, with the car up on jack stands, never removing the hood.

I think the problem area may be trying to install an aluminum body on a CSX4000 frame that was made for a fiberglass body. Although the main frame rails and suspension brackets may be the same, the smaller tubular frame supporting the body is different, and I think the fiberglass body 4000's have an extra tube in the door seal/jam area that the original 3000 cars, and the aluminum 4000 cars don;t have.

Lew,

No disrespect if you are indeed a lawyer. I have to deal with them all the time, and have met all types. Mostly Civil guys. There are actually a few that I like. I even built the UCLA Law Library, where they breed them on a regular basis.....

Regards,

Michael

There are more than a few of us here, Michael...and he is indeed a lawyer. Most of us are quite "civilized."

No worries...you ought to hear our client stories.

Again...let's stay with floor jacks on this thread.

Has anyone done a four-point airjack setup on a Cobra?
