Kirkham Accessories and Modifications
I would like to see what accessories or modifications Kirkham owners have installed.
Please include:
1. How much the upgrade cost?
2. Was it worth it?
3. The amount of ease to install.

Double Roll Bar
I had Kirkham install a passenger roll bar. Now my wife will drive with me , and I feel safer on the track. It took about a day at KMS. The cost was about $2500 and I think it was worth every penny.

I'm not a Kirkham owner (yet ) but being an originality freak/nut/loon, I would opt for original style tublar suspension. However, $15,995 seems a bit steep to me for tublar A-arms. I just wondered if that was a misprint.

The items that added were the fuel level gauge in the odo, carpet the trunk (stops the bulkhead panel from rattling too), S/C vents for the headers, changed mufflers to Hushpower (lower restriction and quieter, allegedly), additional fire extinguisher in front of passenger seat, door hinge covers, corner weighted, an inside gas cap inside the external gas cap for track use, in the engine compartment, an coolant catch can, air vents to both footboxes, etc. That's all that I can remember off the top of my head, but I'm sure there's more.

No, it isn't a misprint. However, it does include more than just the A-arms. It also includes the original style uprights and, I believe, the complete original style brake assemblies.

I am trying to locate a 1 3/4" 90 degree elbow to make the turn
from my new billet surge tank to my radiator. The overall dimensions
are 10" x 14" so I need something shorter so I can connect to the radiator
and surge tank with radiator hose. Any leads out there? I am guessing
polished aluminum or chrome finish but am not sure what is available.
Thanks.

And keep in mind that's an upgrade price, meaning that it's over and above what you're already paying for the billet suspension. Factor in the price of both and I'm guessing your paying somewhat north of $20,000 for the original type of suspension. That's incredibly steep! Hey, if ya got it, flaunt it! I don't have it so it's an easy choice. I'd give my right arm for a Kirkham, but it's just not in the financial cards for me right now. I'll have to settle for my lowly Contemporary....

There's nothing "lowly" about a Contemporary.
They were the mut's nut's when they were in business and they pretty much still are in my opinion. A well built Contemporary is a potential match for anything else out there (apart from a Kirkham, of course ).
Your's is looking terrific and you can be justifiably proud of it.
A friend of mine has just bought one in the UK with and aluminiunm Shelby 427 in it with Webers. It needs tidying up, but it's a great car nontheless.
It has aluminium lower rear control arms. I've never seen these before, does anyone know anything about them? Were they a factory option?
The licence plate number is "COB 427", but that doesn't come with the car unfortunately. If you didn't already know, licence plate numbers can be bought independantly from the car in the UK, subject to some rules.
This plate is likely to be worth around $20-30k on its own.
I'm sorry, I've realised I've gone somewhat of topic.

Paul,
Take a look at justcobras.com, you're probably looking at lower control arms from them.

Thanks Doug. That looks like it. It also has the Watts Linkage, which may have also come from the same place.
Mine had the Watts Linkage, but it was Contemporary's own.

Paul,
I'm not certain but I believe that Contemporary actually used George Petrus (justcobras.com) as their supplier for their rear suspension components and front hubs in the later, better developed cars they produced.

My rear hub carriers were much more rounded than the angular ones on the Just Cobras website, but I guess that was quite a long time ago and things change. I know that mine kept snapping the centre pinion bolt on the Watts linkage. It did it so frequently, that I ended up taking the Watts linkage off.
Mine also suffered from quite bad bump steer, so hopefully that was also fixed on later cars.

OK, this is as good a time as any to expose my ignorance once again......
What is bump steer, what causes it, and how do you fix it? I keep hearing the term but I don't know what it is.
