Default Nevada Registration

Just got the Cobra re-registered in Las Vegas under the Replica Registration. For the last four years I have registered it as an "assembled vehicle - smog exempt" because I have a 1965 427 FE engine. However, each year my registration states I need it smogged. I have to go down to the Sahara DMV show them my paperwork and avidavit from the Ford dealer that it is in fact a 1965 engine. Get the smog exempt certificate for that year and go inside and register the cobra.

This year I re-registered it under the replica law and now I should not have to go through that every year. Should be able to register on-line now.

I was lucky.....got a tech outside that knew about the Replica law and a supervisor inside that knew the replica law. Total time at DMV......one hour, fifteen minutes!!!!!

By the way I'm #68 of 100. And all the people at DMV are convinced that the 100 vehicles under the replica law is 100 vehicles "period". Not 100 new each year like California. I believe #101 could have a major up-hill battle with DMV.

Default cobra registration

Scott, I just went thru that assembled vehicle earlier this year on a 57 chev. pu with a caprice frt and rear clips. What a pain in the ass...
I have a FFR Mark III that im putting together this winter, The engine is a late 80's 5.0, looks like im going to have that same battle, thinking of putting a 67 289 together for registration. Will it have to run or can i tow it down there and do paper work. I was asking them about this kit when i was down there, no one offer to tell me anything about a replica registration. Thanks for the heads up. Ted
If i use a 67 or earlier i won't need smog, just a verification of year of engine right.

Ted,

If you install a '67 or earlier engine you can get a smog exemption but you have to go back to the Sahara DMV each year. Each year I received my vehicle registration and it said I needed a smog check even thoughI had a 65 427 FE and had a Ford dealer verify the engine. By registering it as a replica I don't have to go to Sahara DMV every year.

Default replica requirments

Yes i understand that. Is the only requirments a 67 or less year engine. I have everthing but block to put a 289 together, so im looking for a 67 or earlier block to put in mine. Is there any other requirments beside the certificate of the year of engine and the MSO from FFR. I can trailer it in if there is no smog. It would not even have to be running correct, i want to get it done while there are numbers left. Thanks Ted
