London Cobra Show - "Blow Out"?
London Cobra Show - "Blow Out"?
Well Rich just got back from the latest logistics planning meeting with the City of London, and they need to know how many vendors and cars would be at the LCS 2007 in June.
Obviously their concerns are for parking, traffic control, and support resources and how to allocate street access for us and the Strawberry Festival.
While official registration is just over 150, when we poll the hotels we find that several have no more rooms already, They're SOLD OUT, which leads us to believe that there may be as many as 400 cars coming, maybe even more?
The Big Question is "Do we have a Blow Out and don't know it yet?"
With only nine weeks to plan the details, we have switched from bi monthly to weekly planning meetings, we have secured and listed more hotels, ...But we still need to figure out among other things if another tent is required, and to assure that our caterers are able to handle all attendees quickly,(it is wedding season they tell us) and how much parking is required at the different venues....and well you get the idea.
Many of you have already your hotel reserved, it's now time to reserve your spot at the table, please help us to have a successful event where everyone's expectations are exceeded,............ go now to www.londoncobrashow.comand register, it will be a great help to all of us here at the Ohio Cobra Club and the City of London
Thanks to all of you for your wonderful support
The OCC gang
PS If you are a vendor and have not reserved your space please call Bill Dyer and , remember its first come first served and space is limited

This is all well and good.
I wish to state that those who are attending but are not registering can not put their names on the list of "those planning to attend".
You must register to put your name in the list of "those planning to attend".
Unless the site has been modified.
Personally, I have sent my check and plan to attend, but I really think anyone that wanted to tell the rest they are attending, should be able to just put their name in the list...without the hitch of registering.
Just my opinion, doesn't mean anything.

Dave, it has changed... if I understand you correctly. You registered as pay by check. It used to be that those folks did not show up on the who's coming list until the check was received and your registration status was updated as paid. Now they show up right away regardless of how you register.
So, no harm in registering if you plan to attend. You can put you name on the list and pay later.

Rick
What you replied to Dave is true, but just knowing who "may come" does not do us any good for critical planning, and commitment of expenses and resources , we really need to know how many " Are coming".
If the Hotel bookings are an indication, we need to react with the city, the tent people, and others and the sooner we can do that the better the event will be for everyone because we will have properly "set the table" and preclude any unnessesary expenses for us and the city.
So again, if you plan to be there and have made a room reservation, please also register with us as soon as possible
Thanks again

Snake Oil ....registration = $100 as I recall .
Having been involved in large weekend car event planning like this many times, I offer some thoughts from "been there / done that " :
Others : It seems alot of folks who have rooms reserved have not yet registered for the LCS - which as they stated , makes it hard for them to plan in advance . It also skews the hotel availability should some of you folks who have reserved rooms turn out to not use them afterall.
I was not able to get into my preferred hotel this year cuz some 'blocks' were reserved . It would be nice to have the folks who have reserved rooms and who have not registered yet with LCS do so ..or release their rooms so others can get them and register for LCS and a room . Too many fence sitters is my guess- time to decide so LCS planners can do their thing and those attending can get their rooms closer than farther away .
Bill- personal views here anyway

In 2004 we where at 124 cars as of tomorrow. At the same rate of growth this year, that means 410 I don't know whether to be scared or happy

I can understand the concerns for a proper count. Although I would never complain if there were to many people, some would complain it was poorly handled. All you fence sitters lets git er done. I am registered.

Rooms at the Hampton
I'm registered and I need four rooms at the Hampton. If some of the fence riders change their mind and are not going to need their rooms at the Hampton, I need them.
Please call me at 256-710-5507 or email me algunruner@aol.com
