My Memory is shot. It seems like it was Kentucky or Tennissee (SP?). They had some type of drag car in a parade doing burnouts. May have been running on nitromethane (SP?), but news may have confused NO2. Anyway the driver lost control and killed 6 or 8 in the crowd, with more people hurt.

June 16??? or something. In Tennessee. I did a 'yahoo search' of Drag Race crash in Tennessee, and several links showed up.
Just days before London. A street exhibition can be done, if done correctly of course.
completely tragic situation. tragic.

Oh yeah, I remember that one. Professional drag racer and drag race car doing a burnout. Was supposed to STOP burning out after a short specified distance but 'stayed on it' well past the stop line. That was a terrible tragedy. Difficult to accuratly compare such an occurence to the London Show considering the TREMENDOUS horse power/accellerating difference between a 5 or 6 second drag car and a basically 'street' Cobra. But yeah, 'stuff' can happen in either case...
It is doubtful I will even attend an LCS, summer scheduling just won't allow it. But I have been to London and visited Ed Combs there 'back in the day'. Fond memories, nice little town, I really look forward to the coverage of the 'show' each year. I hope someday I can make it back there. Good luck OCC, I hope the tradition continues.

How is this done correctly? and how do you control it? And who's liability is it when something goes wrong?

Seriously, there are threads for this topic. Here is just one: Still having Cobra sho burnouts?
If we could stay on topic, whatever that is, that would be nice!

sorry to change the thread direction. Somebody posted a reference....

I first thought this would be the announcement that London has stopped it, as they can no longer stomach the liability. After the parade that killed a half dozen everyone is re-thinking.

and somebody asked a question....

so i just found the link and posted it. I apologize for interfering in a LCS thread.
and... to answer the question I guess asked of me.....

I think no spectators/operators/officals past the starting line/area is a good start. Roped off entirely. no exceptions. Who's liability?? I'm sorry; I don't know the answer to this.
sorry for posting on a LCS thread. my bad.

Not a problem folks! Probably my fault for being so cryptic in the beginning. Rest assured that the ride issue is a hotly contested debate amongst the organizers!
Back to the topic at hand... If you want LCS, get involved!
