You should use a mechanic's stethoscope, like mine below, to narrow down your noise search. It really does make a big difference and sometimes it'll surprise you. Uhhh, don't try using a real stethoscope.

Yep, thanks. Checked and the belt and pulley are tight.

Not a ceramic clutch, I think. McLeod single disk.

I have one of those. I'm not sure how to use it since the car only makes the sound when driving. I guess I can hang out the door with my head around the pipe and under the car, then gun it....

True... I have a dual disc McLeod RXT in my Z06. It has a ceramic discs and will squeal some if I take off with a bit too much RPMs on launch.

Digging deep, as you need to do - flat belts (alternator) can sometimes squeal if too tight. Also, if you've run the belts too tight for any length of time, the alternator or water pump bearing(s) could get fried. Don't ask me how I know.

Wow, old post resurrected. I guess I never came back to post what it was (but other posts detail my problem). Ended up being two broken valve springs and seven worn intake valve guides.

Well I had the same squeal, I could only hear it at idle and just after letting the clutch out. Chased my tail for a little bit but I put my hand inside my right side pipe and there was my problem. The glass pack had broke the weld, come loose and pushed itself up against the curve at the outlet. My car would stumble at higher RPM and that was a mystery as well. I took a laser thermometer to my right side header at each cylinder and each was at least 100 degrees hotter than the left. When I mashed the gas it slid aft and somewhat blocked the pipe robbing my power. I pushed it all the way forward with a hammer handle and put a self tapping screw through the bottom of the pipe to hold it forward and my problems went away. There is a guy on youtube that has welded his when it came loose. I'll take mine off and get it fixed when it comes back from paint
Might be what is ailin ya.

I don't know if it has been addressed but you need to check the tranny mount that is tight and that the bushing is not compromised, same with the engine mounts as well.
My 2 cents.

Years ago I cut apart a Unique muffler and this is what I found.
