**looking for a Lone Star Body**

Hi - I found a Lone Star 'ladder-style' frame with 3-link rear end - any recommendations for finding a 'tub-style' cobra body that will fit??
Any advise/leads would be GREATLY appreciated

Also, you can try UCC. They may sell you just the body. It will probably fit with a little modification.

last year I called about buying a new Lone Star body for my old Lone Star frame. It would take to much modify the frame to fit the new body. Cheaper, easier to buy a new frame to go with the new body.

I know where there are a few Gentry bodies for sale. Don't know if they will fit

Nocal, Jeff Classic, in PHX builds big Cobras on C4 frames that are very nice. He might shrink one of them for your frame. You'd have to check with him. 602-402-8504

Karl - thanks for the lead - If it's the same Jeff Classic that built the Cobray's I actually have one of his cars!!!! I'm like the 'red-headed-step-child' because it has a SB Chevy with auto, but I bought it for just cruizin' Besides how many 32' Fords are running the same drive train LOL!!! I'll give him a call to see what he can do!
I did find a guy in SoCal *Westcoast Performance and Marine that has a body for $3,500 - I just need to confirm what wheel base my frame is and compare it to his body

Hey Gang,
Thanks for the feedback - I picked up the frame today and not sure if there's enough parts readily available to put this thing together - anyone have some pics of their build / frame / assembly manual etc

I might have a Lone Star manual but it's not worth anything. Very generic.

Install motor

install rear end

install upper and lower control arms, etc. No details

As for parts, if you have a body and frame that match then you can buy the "Cobra" parts from Shell Valley or Finishline. The rest of the parts can be bought at the parts stores.

I used a 8.8 from a 89 Mustang and Mustang II front suspension.
If the frame has Lone Star's old Mustang spring mounts, I would strongly suggest you cut them off and add coil over mounts. Go with adjustable coil overs on all four corners. Speedway sells the front upper and lowers control arms.
If you don't have a welder, go buy one.

I have over 1400 pictures of my car, maybe 600 of the build.

Hey Gang just a quick update-can't post pics but got confirmation that it's a pre-2006 frame from Brian -
It has coil-overs on all four corners- no rear end, but might have found one for a 78-98 Mustang 3:55 gears + 11.5 cobra discs - not sure of the spline -

Dwight - you might just be my new best friend LOL!!!!! Thanks for the quick response and I'll send you pics of the frame.

If you get board, I'd appreciate some pics of your frame and cowling hoop?

Super late on the date, but;

Long star used to use Currie tubes and axles for their rear ends.

Dwight is correct, there was no manual.

Maybe 94 inches on the wheel base.

The 3.55 gears worked great for me with 26" tires. My small block had a lot of low end torque. With the tranny you will need a 2.97 gear to make first useable gear.
If the frame has coil overs on all four corners then you are off to a good start.

Last winter my pictures file got corrupt and I lost a lot of my build pictures.

Hey Gang,
Sorry I've been MIA - after sifting through the GREAT feedback on these forums and doing the quick math - I decided to go a different direction - Still running my C-3 Cobray and found a Factory Five MK3 that had a little 'bump' on the passenger side front end - found a body and I'm currently 'waiting' patiently for our local cobra 'GURU' to get it back together LOL!!!

. If someone has a body - I'd still want to pursue the build on the LS 427 let me know Ldmoore@comcast.net

Lone Star has new digs in Boerne Texas, i believe they have the molds yet
they can make you a fresh body.

Lone Star and UCC are entirely different cars and UCC has NO old Lone Star bodies. They're not even inclined to provide any more support to old LSC customers too.

Undy, when did you hear this?
i am at their site a couple times a month and i have never heard that narrative.
yes the new UCC car is different but the old molds are still there to pop new glass

i'm going to be there tomorrow night, i will re-ask the question.....i'll snap some pics if i get the chance
