Hardtop
Dennis,
I'm getting ready to do a little modification on my hardtop. I bought the top from Lone Star in 2000 but did not paint or install it because it does not fit correctly. I will have to cut the top and reglass it . What type of fiberglass will I need to do this work? Do you have a repair kit that I can buy? When I first painted my car I had two holes for hood pin, I had them repaired before the car was painted. I wanted to use the T-handles to lock my hood down, not pins. After paint you could see the two repaired spots. Two years later I had the spots cut out and reglassed, hood repainted and you can still see where the orginal holes where. Not as bad but when the light is just right, you can see them. I have a expert painter, with lots of experince to do the work. He said I would need a new hood if I wanted any better. He spend 30 hours and painted the hood three times trying to fix the spots. I think the fiberglass repair kit did not match the material of the hood causing a little surface shrinkage. I do not want this problem with the top.
Please, Can you help? Thanks Dwight Frye algunruner@aol.com
