I'd rather not say because you never know where the DMV is nosing around
But I can tell you the car needed work and repairs and it will be a WAY BETTER car than the car I bought, because no expense is spared.

Yup...This may take a while...I'm looking at doing a New Backdraft if possible. For 2 reasons. One...I can pick out what I want and 2 I'll have all the paperwork to get a NY Reg done without problems. Problem is I only have around 8K to spend on a motor and trans after buying the car. Gotta do some looking around...

ajracing 04-21-2014 07:33 AM

you find an engine and tranny installed for 8k we'll do 2.

Yea..Not installed. I'm doing that... $3500 for complete trans components so far. That leaves me with $4500. I know I'll be digging deeper. Never know...Someone might have one laying around...LOL

Unless you are buying a "Turn Key" at an agreed price you wont have money left. That money you are talking about is about enough to make up for what you hadn't thought of to begin with. Myself and about every other guy on here spent more than the original budget before we were driving.

Best of luck,

Aaron

I forgot, if the Backdraft comes with the Lucus lights, they wont pass the NYS registration process. You will still need a reverse light, padded dash and padded sun visors. Its an interesting procedure....

Buy a cheap 351W for now and next year stroke it.

$8000, does that include the exhaust system?

Full exhaust comes with whatever engine I choose. I know it will be more than 8k, but I'm trying. Looking more around 10-12K.
