Long Island Cobra runs in 2021?
Hey LI Cobra fans, let's get a little organized this season. I see several Cobras at each event, so maybe one day we can arrange to meet up and go for a Sunday morning cruise either to or from a cars & coffee.
Post here to gauge interest. I may write up a flyer to leave in cars on Sunday mornings to recruit others as well.
See you all soon when the weather breaks!
Adam

I'll repost comments here as we try to get something started:
We can meet at Cap Tree one Sunny Sunday morning and go from there. Or we can meet at the Manhasset Sunday Cars & Coffee event in the Macy's parking lot and go from there. There are almost always Ferrari's there for that event that we can joke around with, take funny pics if us beating them up. lol

Trying. Hopefully we'll get something fun this summer. Long Island has a very strong car community but we all keep getting kicked out of our meeting places. There are no tracks and no places that aren't "not in my backyard" locations. Then you add on top of that the Fast & Furious crowd that street races (but high speed rolling races, not proper old school drag racing) and crashes, even kills bystanders. Not good!
But we should be able to get a bunch of us old folks driving Cobras together for a cruise one of these days this summer.
I hope all is well with you, Tommy.

I'm going to start handing out a flyer around the various LI car events saying the following:
Quote:
Attention Cobra owners: Let’s DRIVE!
I don’t know about you, but I love to drive my Cobra. And wouldn’t it be cool if 10-20+ Cobras rolled through town on the way to or from a Cars & Coffee one weekend? Or maybe even take a longer drive around Long Island?
I’m trying to organize a run or two this summer. Feel free to contact me directly or go to Club Cobra:
Long Island Cobras - Club Cobra
This is a thread I started:
Long Island Cobra runs in 2021?
Or just reach out to me directly if you like:

NJ is IN
Great to see you trying to organize. I would participate --- coming from Bergen County NJ - over the GW Bridge. Weather permitting.

Nice! There's an active group in NJ that meets regularly for breakfast. I'm on their email list. PM me your email address and I'll forward it to you if you don't already know about it.
As for the LI runs, my plan is to start putting flyers in all the Cobras I see at the many cars & coffee events I go to locally and plan something for this summer. Ideally, a few meets either starting or ending at the big sunday morning cars & coffee events we have here.

I'll be at Cap Tree tomorrow looking for Cobras and handing out flyers. I'll be in my GT350 though since my Cobra is getting a new windshield at the moment.

Join us in Lake George July 9-11th
The Summer run is nearly 20 years old. For the last few years it had moved to the white mountains of NH. Well we're returning to Lake George. We will be at the Quality Inn. Folks arrive Friday and catch up with old & new friends. Saturday we we take a long cruise through the Adirondacks. All makes are welcome. Sunday it's breakfast, farewells and head for home. A great low key weekend. I hope we can re-connect with some of our long lost LI Cobras.

Just an update on this thread: I've handed out a few flyers and am hoping to find a weekend that works for all who are interested.

UPDATE: Sunday August 8th. Meet at OBI first, then we'll roll out for a nice drive.
(OBI GPS point: https://goo.gl/maps/B8HwZ1YKLsCJ4HKP8)
I'M THINKING WE PLAN ON LEAVING OBI BY 8AM. Does that work for everyone?
OBI is open and as you may or may not know, it gets crowded but not as bad as it's been in prior years. If you want to get there early and hang out and know you'll get a parking spot, feel free. If you want to get there later just to meet up and roll out, then we need to pick a time to get there by.
We can determine a route based on where everyone lives who shows up. If more people come from Suffolk, we'll drive east. If people are from Nassau, maybe we'll head west on Ocean Parkway and go to Long Beach for breakfast. Open to suggestions either way.
Please post or PM me your cell phone and email address and I'll start an email and/or text thread.
email me at LongIslandCobras@gmail.com

I met 4 additional Cobra owners last night at the Oyster Bay car cruise who are planning to attend our run! Now we're getting somewhere!
I'll post this on all 3 forums. But please email me a good email address and cell phone number and I'll get an email thread going for the event. It will be easier to keep track of.
mail to LongIslandCobras@gmail.com and I'll reply with my personal email address and my cell phone number.
We just need to decide where we want to drive to once we leave OBI.
(And someone put in the request for great weather please.)

REMINDER: We are meeting this Sunday at OBI, then rolling out for a Cobra Cruise at 8am. OBI gets crowded early, so I'll be there no later than 7:30. You can get there early or arrive just before 8am and we'll line up and go since parking may be at a premium by then.
Feel free to text me that morning as needed (ie, if you're running late and want to meet us along the route).
Where should we drive to?
1. Westhampton for breakfast at Goldberg's Bagels or The Bakery?
2. Northport for Tim's Shipwreck Diner?
3. East Northport for Bagel Boss?
4. Jericho Bagel Boss?
Or should we just create a loop, drive, and blow off the food?
Email with your vote. I vote for Westhampton personally but I'm flexible.
Bring folding chairs so we can eat outside by the cars wherever we go.

Hello Cobra fans. I just did a dry run and think I have a nice little route for tomorrow morning.
I'm thinking we do this:
Start at OBI. Depart at 8am. (Get there early if you want to hang out and check out the cars. it gets CROWDED early).
Drive west to Long Beach: Long Island Bagel Cafe as the destination. It's 26 miles away along the scenic Ocean Pkw to Meadowbrook Pkw to Loop Pkw into Long Beach. Very few lights or traffic. Just watch your speed.
The Bagel Cafe is on the right and has a small parking lot. If that's full, there is a larger community parking area about 2 blocks up on the left side of the road. We can park there, walk back for food and eat it by the cars. Bring chairs.
THEN
We will then reverse this trip and end our ride back at OBI. When we get back, there will still be plenty of cars but it won't be so crowded that we won't find parking, probably together.*
For GPS: OBI (Oak Beach): 3 Oak Beach Rd, Centereach, NY
Long Island Bagel Cafe, 757 E Park Ave, Long Beach, NY 11561
We just need good weather!
Adam
