Rte 3 dumps you right into the Lincoln Tunnel, how are you getting to the tunnel?
For me rte 80 to 46 to 3 is most direct. If there is a way to avoid 46 Id be all ears.

Dane:
I agree, 80 to 46 to 3 is pretty easy. Based upon the construction on rt 78, I would prefer to avoid 24 to 78 to Turnpike. Do you still have my cell number? If not PM me and I will give it to you so we can coordinate meeting early on Sunday. There is still a chance I might bring the car into the city Saturday evening the night before - but not likely.
Jamie:
I will give you a call at the end of the week after speaking to Dane and see if we can meet up before heading into the city.
In either case, we should figure being at Columbus Circle a little before 7am. Therefore, need to be on the road before 6am.
Ziggy:
I do not think any of us are planning on heading out to Long Island either before or afterwards. I need to head up to LimeRock later that day for a track day race event scheduled for Monday morning.

If I go with you guys- still on the fence about leaving at 5:30 in the a.m. - Jamie's idea of meeting at Vince Lombardi service area works best for me.
Jim- I (unfortunately) drive 78 everyday. I am pretty confident that at 6 a.m. on Sunday the construction will not cause any delays at all and we could jump on the Turnpike quickly, meet at Vince Lombardi and then hit the tunnell.
If we have to be out of there by 9, we could even stop for breakfast somewhere in Joisey on the way back.

OK to confirm..We will meet at the Vince Lombardi Rest Area on Sunday then...
I was planning on driving out to LI only before I realized the NJ contingent would meet. That's good with me. From Vince Lombardi we'll go GWB or Lincoln Tunnel?
And meeting at Vince Lombardi at what time? 6am ??
It's a date then....I have a brit racing green ERA with no stripes, street setup, bumpers and hoops. XUSROWR plates/ NJ & a cute blonde
I'll be heading down to Jersey shore directly after.

From the Vince Lombardi service area it is a simple 2 mile run down to the Lincoln Tunnel. At that time of the morning from the service area to the circle is about 25 to 30 minutes.
Alternatively the bridge is about 4 miles and then a run down the west side drive.
Lets meet plan on meeting at 6:15.
Jeff does this work for you? We could meet at the Garden State Mall parking lot at 6:00 am (Am I typing AM with a clear head?)

Guys
Route all depends if we are meeting together before heading in.
Chaplin:
I agree traffic will not be bad on 78 it is just that at that time of the morning it may be hard to see problems in the road from the night before.
Dane:
If you are coming from Morristown, you can swing thru Chatham since it is on the way and meet me at the CVS parking lot on Rt124 (before the Commerce Bank). We can then meet Chaplin at a point before getting on the highway. Many options from there (ie. 24 to 78 to TP or 24 to 78 to GSP to 3). Any work for me.
Ziggy:
You are welcome meeting us in NJ at any point that works best for you since you are coming up from the south.
Jamie/Jeff:
Meet point all depends if you are taking the Lincoln Tunnel or GWB into the city.

Bobby:
As it stands today, it looks like we have five "Joisey" boys scheduled to come to the event this Sunday (weather permitting). I would figure that we may pick up another 2-3 in the next day (awaiting confirmation). Hope you have room for another 5-8 Cobras. We promise we will be on our best behavior!!
They are as follows:
Jamvan
US Rowboy
Chaplin
Blue Rooster
JWheaton
Look forward to the date (either one).

I'll be in Ocean County from tomorrow afternoon until Sat night. I will plan to be at Vince Lombardi Rest Area 6-615 Sunday am
I won't be checking email tomorrow or Sat until the eve. So you guys decide. I can meet anyplace between Secaucus, Vince Lombardi, or GS Plaza parking lot. All are familiar to me and not a far drive. Dont' care if I take Lincoln Tunnel or GWB. All routes will be fun.
Just email me with some final decision. Driving in a group is more fun than solo Thanks

5 or 6 cobras going through Lincoln Tunnell would be something to hear. We could take the tunnell in and GWB out if you wanted.

weather.com
I'm seeing some disappointing weather predictions on weather.com
Early hours Sunday 1am to 6am 30% chance of rain
Sunday am 60% chance of showers 66degrees
Sunday pm 60% chance light rain 54degrees
I'll check the computer before I head out sunday
please post if you decide to bag it Sunday...I will too.
(Its not me. It's the girlfriend who isn't waterproof. I was in a kayak race in small craft warnings last weekend and one around Manhattan next weekend Oct 8/no rain dates)

Jeff -- good deal. cya then.
Jeff and I will then head down to the Lombardi service area to meet everyone at 6:15.
For those not familiar with Lombardi Service area there are 2 sections. The service area and the park and ride area.
Let meet outside the service area. That way all of you that need a 3rd cup of coffee and the crapper can take care of that prior to going into the city.
Should take us no longer than 30 minutes to get to Columbus Circle going either way (bridge - tunnel)

Jamie:
Left you a message on your cell phone this morning. Just spoke with Blue Rooster to coordinate time and meeting place. Hopefully we will then meet up with Chaplin on the way in. As of right now, weather seems to be getting worse for Sunday (as per MSN) - but you never know we are going to make our decision around dinner time on Saturday. Chaplin, touch base with Dane or myself Saturday evening.
We are planning on leaving between 5:30-5:45am (weather permitting) which would give us plenty of time to hook up with you and Jeff on the NJ side of the Lincoln Tunnel by 6:30am. Figure Ziggy will be with you.
Lets keep out fingers crossed.
Jim
