Hey Long Island Guys, How About Karting?
Hello All:
Over here on the other side of the pond there is a pretty nice indoor karting facility. It's in Wallingford (Exit 66 off the Wilbur Cross - all top gear driving from NY). I spoke with the owner and if I get a group of 10 drivers he will let us drive for $15 per 8 minute session. No membership, no nothing, just bring a helmet if you have one. Laps take about 40 seconds and you do 30+ MPH. I figure between all the Cobra guys on the island and all the Cobra guys here in Connecticut this should be possible. Is there any interest in doing this some Saturday? I sent Tony Aprile some info a few weeks ago.
The official site is at www.OnTrackKarting.com . Let me know.
Bob

Tony,
I have a dinner engagement at 7 on the 20th so I may have to bag out unless we can be back before then.

If we could get there by 11:00 I'm sure we could be out by 1:00 or 2:00. The more sessions you run the longer you will be there. Remember, we need 10 drivers to get the discount. How many guys are coming from your side of the pond? I can probably get 2 or 3 guys.

I think 11 - 2 will work for me. Every Thanksgiving, I usually go with a couple of guys when I'm down in Newport News but I didn't get my "fix" last time. We went window shopping for a Daytona Coupe instead . So I really want to go. 2-3 races is plenty for me; I usually hurt after that.
If the sun's out, let's take the GT40 as I'd like your opinion on getting roller rockers for the SB.

Hey Tony:
It doesn't look like we'll have 10 guys, so there goes the discount. The way I see it we have me, you, Ray and Jab Bentley from Woodstock. If my son comes down from college that would be 5. I don't know where we can find 5 more. I will ask my Skippy guys and Cobra guys if they are interested, but I make no guarantees.
If we do this next Saturday we can meet at the track or I can meet you guys at the rest area right off the Wilbur Cross (Merritt). If we meet at the track here are your directions. Take 95 to Exit 38. Take the connector (1 mile) to the Wilbur Cross north bound (Hartford) Get off the Wilbur Cross at Exit 66. Take a left at the light , go 300 yards and you're there. It's on the left.
If you take the Merritt just follow it until it becomes the Wilbur Cross and go to Exit 66.
How does 11:00 sound? Jay, will you be there?

So I'll call you Friday, Tony.
We should probably hook up near the LIE, around my exit, 39.

Ray & Tony:
The track has been booked for the whole day on Saturday. We will not be able to drive. Let's consider the event cancelled.
Bob
P.S. Tony, I'll give you a call.
