John....I guess we will go with the plan to bring a pack of hot dogs, rolls, some salads etc for us and Sandy ? There must be some grills in the picnic area...or we can grab a small one somewhere.

J2x,
I still have to talk to Sandy which I will do tomorrow. I will talk to you on Thursday to solidify the lunch plans. Even though there haven't been many responses, I think it's going to be a goooood turnout.
Later................John

Jim, do you know of an area in Bear Mountain where we will all gather or will we play it by ear?
Sal, we are meeting at Nicks around 8 Am and on the road at 8:30 sharp. If you take SS pkyway to exit 36 North Straight path, make your first left on Edison ave and then make the first Right at Otis. Nick is the first building on the Right, you will see all the cars in the lot.
John, i hope you are right with our turn out.

I'm in - See you at Nick's!
The park has basic fast food hot dogs, burgers, etc. Should be great!

Bob, is that the same Edison that's off Wellwood ave on the other end? Right by all the cemetary shops? If so, I know where it is.

Bear Mountain preparations?
I've never taken the Cobra on a trip this long, is there anything I should be taking along for the ride?

Bobby...I have not been to Bear Mountain since I was about 10 yrs old.
And...that is many moons ago !
We never actually got past the "suggestion phase" of this trip in the past.
However, I would not be concerned. Being a state park I know there are general use picnic areas which we could ask about at the entrance booth, as we are paying our per vehicle state park entrance fee. Once we enter an area where we have some picnic tables all we should need to do is park our cars. There should be general use BBQ grills as in most state parks within that picnic area as well as bathroom facilities etc. I know there is a lake, they have softball fields, paddle boat rentals , rowboat rentals, fishing, trails, bike rentals, concessions etc. at least that is what the website indicates. I'm guessing all we would be looking for is adequate parking, a place to rest, perhaps grabs some lunch and relax for a while. I can call the park office to inquire about how we may approach the grounds . They are closed now @ 9:30pm. The tel # from the website is
845-786-2701. I have some family matters I'm dealing with at this time.
However, I can reach out for the office during day hours to inquire and ensure we will have no problems finding picnic tables for our group. I would suggest bringing some"cruise night" type folding chairs for our old sorry behinds. That's a given we will need those ! Hey....my guess is we will secure a nice area, hopefully near the lake, relax , eat have some laughs and maybe even see Yogi Bear !

Sal, that is the same Edison ave, it runs from wellwood to straight path. As far as bringing things for a long ride, have a set of tools some duct tape and fix a flat and you should be fine!!! We all stay together and help one another out if god forbid anything was to happen.
Jim, thank you for following up with the park for us gathering up there. Hope everything is ok at home with you, Looks like we are in for good weather for our trip.
See you all on Saturday morning.

Sal...credit card....EZ-pass.....basic tools...and probably lunch.
Ricky-BobbyCobra...You might want to post the entire planned route your taking?? After talking with a few of the guy's at Oyster Bay last night, some of the guy's west and north will not be joining the start at Nicks and want to meet along the way....and ....if anyone strays behind for one reason or another they should know route the group will be taking.

Tony, all points well taken. i am working on the directions with Jim and i will post them as soon as i get it down pat. Thank you for the EZ pass too, it helps keep the group together when used. So if everyone can remember to bring their passes it will be a great help.

Bobby...I sent you an e-mail with routes and further information obtained from Bear Mountain State Park.
*** Be Advised : THERE ARE NO GENERAL USE PARK BBQ GRILLS.
A FEW OF US WILL HAVE PORTABLE GRILLS OR IT MAY BE BEST TO BRING SANDWICHES.

Not to be a thorn in the side.... but do you really want to go on the cross Bronx expressway with all the trucks....instead go over the Whitestone to the Hutch and the Cross County Pky to Sprain Brook...and this is just a suggestion

Bobby ..like I said it was just a suggestion, if the guy's want t go up the Hutch... instead of going on the Cross Bronx and over the GWB I can take the lead. I've gone that way a few times...
