Default Long Island Cobra Run to Limerock 9/6/09

LONG ISLAND COBRA RUN
!!! To Limerock Park!!!

Date: Sunday September 6, 2009
(Weather permitting)

Meet:
McDonalds on Hempstead Tpke in Uniondale opposite Nassau Coliseum. ¼ mile WEST of Meadowbrook Pky

Time:
Departing 6:30am
Returning 1:00pm ((( In years past we would leave at 2pm, althought almost everyone in the group was ready to depart by 1pm, so that has been changed to the new ealier time.)))

Join fellow Cobra enthusiasts for a day trip to the Lime Rock Park Vintage Festival car show.
Lime Rock’s traditional Vintage & Historic Car Show and the Show of Shelby’s will display a vast array of foreign and domestic automobiles along with the great signature cars of Carroll Shelby, including Cobras, GT 350s, 500s and more.

On the way we will make a pit stop at the Putnam Diner on Route 22 in Patterson, NY for a sit down breakfast.

Route: Hempstead Tpke to Meadowbrook Pky North, merging into Northern State Pky West
(Grand Central Pky), to Cross Island Pky North.
Over Whitestone Bridge to Hutchinson River Pky North. Once on the Hutch we will continue to Route 684, then directly onto route 22.

((In years past we would continue up route 22, this year we will divert off route 22 in Wingdale, NY for approx 3 miles on route 55 to Connecticut Scenic Route 7. Continue North on Route 7 to Lime Rock Rd (Route 112) and enter the racetrack.))

We will return the usual way of route 112, 44 and 22 as in years past, why...well because we know wher all the gas stations are located.

Tony:
I'm pretty sure a AAA card gets you a $5.00 per person discount at the gate. I know it's not much, but a buck's a buck.

Bob...I was going to pre-buy the tickets at AAA, but if they discount by flashing the card upon entry...why bother. Thanks for the heads up.

Greg..You can always stay longer if you wish, but the vast majority of the guy's the last few years were ready to leave by 1pm...so I changed it.

Thanks Tony.

I will have to figure out a way not to wake the neighbors at 6:30.

I would like to thank all of you who participated in the LimeRock Run this year as we had 13 Cobra's one Roush and 2 GT500 Mustangs.

The weather really cooperated as it was cool and sunny and a great day for a drive, well maybe not for that Z06 who snaked his way through our ranks....!!!

Thumbs up Lime Rock 2010

Tony
The trip to Lime Rock has already come up in conversation twice in the last week – I know that we have a lot of interest in the run. Let me know when and where.

Nick

I'll post the run in another week....im just trying to decide what time to leave and if we should stop for a sitdown breakfast...after waiting an hour for food last year...maybe just do a pit stop.....

any preferences on whether we take route 55 to 7...or just go up 22 all the way !!!

FWB....Compy has a track day scheduled for Atco in Oct...not sure of all the details.
