Are you Conservative or Liberal?

I would assume that there are many more conservatives on this forum than liberals from reading the postings, but I thought it would be interesting to find out.

Would you classify yourself as a conservative, liberal or independent?

Jamo 10-05-2009 12:55 PM

Actually, I like to thing of myself as right...

Is that the same as 'No Jamo Left Behind'? ;)

Jamo 10-05-2009 01:20 PM

assolutely...just trying to make sure them liberals can unnerstand what I be sayin.

427sharpe 10-05-2009 02:20 PM

I had to vote independent; my leanings depend on the issue at hand.

Ronbo 10-05-2009 02:31 PM

You left a couple off: http://www.theadvocates.org/quizp/index.html

Libertarian, The far left and right just attack different specific rights. Government has grown under both parties, hence they are both enemies of the citizen.

Many people are actually centrists, which is why we have "progressive" Republicans and "conserviative" Democrats.

392cobra 10-05-2009 02:37 PM

I consider myself a Free Thinking Liberal with a slight Conservative edge.

dcdoug 10-05-2009 02:37 PM

I figured we'd generally capture the centrists with Independents. We can add more granularity if you'd like.

Jamo 10-05-2009 04:52 PM

So, Ernie's it then?

mdmull 10-05-2009 05:19 PM

Need to add "fence sitter","not interested", "depends on how the answer will help me" and "huh" to make sure we capture all of the "granularity"

Excaliber 10-05-2009 06:45 PM

I'm just glad I'm not a member of the latest party, the "pee" party.

Piss on my backside and tell me it's raining... :)

That's right about where I scored on the test...

Problem is the false labling of "statists" as liberals that is so commonplace, not to mention the false association of "small government" with conservatives.

"independent" is the definition of a Libertarian, quite the opposite of the Statist.

I am "left" on certain issues, "right" on others. I think these labels are of no use to any thinking person.

I tend to be a "Constitutionalist". I believe that as a Christian I should help my fellow man but I also believe that the Government has no right to force me to. I also believe that I have a right and obligation to protect myself and others if the situation should arise. That being said...There are 3 types of people in this world...Sheep-who walk around not knowing or wanting to know about the dangers in the world (or just ignoring them); Wolves-who are preditors and believe that if a sheep gets eaten it's the sheeps fault and it deserved it; and lastly there are Sheep Dogs- who look like sheep and love the sheep but are willing to bare their fangs and kill a wolf (or die for the sheep)to protect the them. I'm a sheep dog. Most of my liberal friends have told me how they believe in gun control and that they could never take another mans life. My answer to that was "put your wives/husbands and daughters or sons in a situation where they are going to be raped or murdered and you'll change your mind." At that point all of them agreed with me. To Summize:
Christian
American
Heteosexual
Pro-Life
Right-Wing
Gun Carrying
Conservative....
Any Questions?:D

Howdy,

After voting, there are now three liberals on ClubCobra!

The thing about is that I consider myself a Liberal but my definition of what a liberal is and what most of the peeps on CC think of as a liberial is totally different.

Some with conservative.

I also thought that someone that was a conservative was conservative with of all things, money.

Look at how much the size of the gov't and the deficit grew under Bush/Chaney/Haliburton and a conservative Republican controlled congress.

People like Feinstein, Boxer, and a bunch of other nut jobs from mainly Kaliformia, are not true liberials. They are Socialist. There isn't anything that is Liberial about them in my definition of what a Liberial really is.

To me, a Liberial is someone that believes in every word of the Constitution, the Declareration and the Bill of Rights. All ten of the Bill of Rights, not just the ones you like or do not like.

Am a huge gun nut! Huge! I have a range at my house and I shoot almost everyday. For some reason, most peepss that claim to be Liberials are anti-gun. This does not make any sense to me because what of being a liberial is that you are supposed to be liberial, as in open minded, with your thinking and in your interpretation of the Constitution, the Declareration and the Bill of Rights.

Like the 2nd Amendment: " A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

I do not see how a person can say that they are open minded and still read the 2nd Amendment and believe that I do not have the right to own a gun!

Anyway, at the same time I think most conservatives are full of crap too.

The conservatives had controll of Congress from 1-97 until 1-07, had controll of the WH from 1-01 until 01-09, and the SCOTUS during much of this time, and still do, so, why, since conservatives are so pro gun and anti abortion, did they not remove most of the federal gun laws like the Brady Law? And why didn't they make abortions illegal. Heck, during this time the Dems/liberials did not have enogh power to fix a jay walking ticket so the Repubs/conservatives could have done, and did, anything they wanted to do.

Just my $.02.

Paul

Jamo 10-06-2009 11:09 AM

There...much better. Conservatives are now a oppressed minority around here.

Excaliber 10-06-2009 11:36 AM

:) Ah, I see how it is, the "Pee" party strikes again.

Chaplain 10-06-2009 11:45 AM

I am politically conservative; however, if you're pouring me a beer then I'm liberal.

Dan40 10-06-2009 07:01 PM

Ahh, I see ACORN is now counting the votes.:JEKYLHYDE
