Public Option, opt out
Now they are talking about a public option in health care that each state could opt IN or opt out! I know its only a trial balloon but could you imagine a public option in 35 states and not in 15 states. It would be called the C.H.A.O.S health care plan!

No state will choose to opt out as they will continue to bear the costs that will subsidize the public option. Can you see the state gvmt. that says yeah we're paying the cost for other states gov. supported heath insurance but no, not here. Don't forget that the plan is being written by people that really want a single payer system. All of the provisions in the plan will add to personal health care costs that will eventually cause enough people to accept the single payer system, not because they think it's better, but because they will think, mistakenly in my opinion, that it will be the only affordable choice for them. Our children will not enjoy the standard of living that we have experienced. I'm saddened by that realization every day.

Not so fast with "public option" wording. Nancy Pelosi is thinking about redecorating the wording of the health care bill.
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) - A government-sponsored "public option" for health care lives, though it may be more attractive to skeptics if it goes by a different moniker, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Monday.
In an appearance at a Florida senior center, the Democratic leader referred to the so-called public option as "the consumer option." Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., appeared by Pelosi's side and used the term "competitive option."
Both suggested new terminology might get them past any lingering doubts among the public—or consumers or competitors.

How about getting them both out of office. That would help my doubts more than re-naming a disaster they are forcing upon us.

Gee, the health care plan is kinda like the death penality. With the death penality, being for it or against usually depends on what end of the rope you are on.
I'm 45yo. Show me someone my age that does not have health insurance that would be against the health care plan.
Well over half of the employers in Arkansas do not offer health insurance for their employees. The majority of the employers that do provide health insurance is unaffordable for the employees to purchase. If you make $12.00/hr and health insurance cost $3.00/hr, it kinda cuts into your bottom line. I know there are not many people on here that make $12.00/hour, but like here in Arkansas, there are more $8.00/hr jobs than there are $25.00/hr jobs and the insurance cost the same no matter how much or little you make.
Yeah, I how, everybody needs to get educated so they can get a better paying job.
Gee, if everybody in the USA had a PhD., then someone with a PhD. would be scrubbing the toilets aand busing tables, so that doesn't really work either.
Jobs are kinda like a pyramid, a bunch of crappy ones at the bottom and only a few at the top.
Me? I went out and got a job that has great health insurance and everytime my employer runs a help wanted ad in the paper, there are +100 peeps apply for just one job and one of the main reasons is health insurance.
In the state of Arkansas, there are only 110 hourly employees at General Cable, where I work, but there are several thousand at MickeyD's.

Paul,
I am much older than you and I do not have health insurance and I am completely against this so called power grabbing Health Care Plan. I take care of myself and don't need the Govt. forcing me to buy something that I don't want.

Yeah. Ron pulls his own teeth.
BTW, jobs are not distributed (by pay) in a pyramid shape. Pay distribution is more likely to be something like a bell curve.
So yes Paul, you should go back to school. Your thinking is a bit distorted. Sitting around the water cooler talking about politics will do this to you.

Well, IF the health care plan would reduce costs, who could be against it? But it is a Government takeover of health care. It WILL NOT reduce costs for anyone. It WILL dramatically increase costs and taxes for everyone.
How can I say that about an unpassed bill? EASY!!! Look at any and all previous Government programs of any kind in our history. They fail to cost what they project. They cost double to 10 TIMES what they are supposed to cost. And they overcomplicate what they propose to simplify.
The best example in health care is MEDICARE. Projected to cost $65 MILLION per year or $650 MILLION per decade. Actual cost has been in excess of $1 TRILLION per decade. That is 1500 TIMES the projected cost. LOOK IT UP!!!!
If the health care bill is passed, to help all those who cannot afford health care, those that CAN afford health care today, WON'T be able to afford it in future. And those that today cannot afford health care will be ROYALLY screwed.
Health Insurance Companies, the DEVILS!
Who sets their rates? Them? NO, politicians do.
And rate increases? Politicians do!
Who approves their policies? Politicians do!
Who sets their PROFIT margins? Politicians do!
Who regulates their coverage area? Politicians do!
Who issues the licenses of insurers? Politicians do!
Everything about Insurance Companies is completely regulated by Politicians. Where is the logic in thinking that more interference by politicians will solve the problems they have created?

Well, the real answer here is simple, just don't get sick or injured. With that said, my parents never had any health insurance until my Dad got Medicare at age 65. I as a young kid had to pay my Dad back for a herina repair when I was 18 years old, do you think any parent today would ever do something like that. Anyway, there is no good answer to this problem and no way to pay for what these dreamers want to do.
Like I said, try to reduce your risks of getting sick, live a healthy life style, be safe, control what yoru kids do with regards to safety..basically be responsible and don't expect anyone to pay for your misfortunes .
WOW! am I old fashion or what!
