A President's Loyalties
One of the reason's (if not THE reason) a POTUS must be a natural born citizen is to assure his/her allegiences to the USA. Now, this is not a "birther" thread, so avoid that please. President Obama won the Nobel Peace prize for NOTHING. He knows it, we know it, and most of the world knows it. And, we all know (or strongly suspect) it was done to influence his future decisions. In light of this, his current War Policy makes sense. His stubborn stance on Climate Change in the midst of ClimateGate makes sense.
Yes, we now have a President that owes allegience to other countries. He is including them in his decision making process.
Can you imagine him going to Oslow to recieve his prize on the heels of just announcing a kick ass, take no prisoners, no exit date, were going to end this war once and for all policy? Can you imagine him giving a speech saying that in light of the ongoing investigation (ClimateGate), he will not be going to Copenhagan to sign away our future by signing treaties that will bankrupt this country?
No, you cannot.
Mike

Ernie, I know you are probably itching to get back into it again, but forget it.
Not with me, at least.

Mike,
I take exception with your assertion that a politician would be loyal to his native land just because he was born there. In my experience, politicians are loyal to their own needs and desires, and that's about it. In some cases, those desires extend to their families, mistresses and home towns. In some cases, it actually includes their home countries, but not in all cases. The only thing you can be sure of is that they will look out for themselves. .... And Obama, McCain, Clinton, Bush, etc. are all politicians.

Tommy, what are you talking about? It is not MY assertion, it is the rationale behind the reason American Presidents must be American (native) born.
This is NOT a birthers thread. What I am asserting is that the underserved Nobel Peace prize comes with strings attached. And it appears to be working.

Kind of off the subject Mike, but it also seemed to work for Gore. I watched a 3 hour show of Johnny Cash's life the other day and Al Gore was in it more than any other person giving his views of Johnny Cash. He is a Nobel Prize winner and therefore had to keep pointing out that every song Cash sang wasn't in the traditional mold of the Good Ole Boys in Nashville. I also watched a 3 hour show of Elvis Presleys life and Gore wasn't in it. I suppose after those appearances he will want to be elected to the Country Music Hall Of Fame.
