Generally, your posts indicate a reasonably high level of education and intelligence, but emotionally, you drag yourself back to the brink of drooling moronitude. It's a pity because you're probably a good guy, but your idea of of winning an argument is bludgeoning the other person with canned rhetoric.
Wash that foam out of your mouth Dan, and wipe the dribble off your chin. You have the tools to make a strong persuasive argument without resorting to statements that destroy your credibility.

No doubt you consider your post to be candid and reasonable. Perhaps pseudo intelligent. I consider it to be typical liberal ridicule and name calling. The true foamers are those that believe the Utopian. but illogical and unsupportable liberal canons.

Sorry I insulted a fellow vet by inferring you were a [pitooie] liberal. Mea Culpa.

I see interest owed as debt, individual or nation, and cannot be separated out as a different issue. Owing the cost of a new Post Office or owing interest to Chicomms is only different in that the latter is worse.

No ridicule intended at all Dan. I meant what I said in all sincerity and I stand by it. Within the context of a discussion - any discussion - tis not only about the position or opinion expressed, but also about the delivery. Quit selling yourself short with the angry BS. And stop with resorting to bawling and crying "LIBERAL!!!" everytime someone disagrees with you. We have disagreed on some fundamentals and agreed on others. I really mean you no harm.

A rhetorical question I take it. What assurance do you or any other parent have that your children will even be able to afford health care in the future? Well now they have that possibility, regardless of how well you may or may not have provided for them. At some point they, and millions like them, will have to fend for themselves. They will have access to health care in ways ALL previous generations have never had. I'm willing to pay more, personally, to give that advantage to the next generation. Over 80% of Americans agree we need Health Care reform. We, the USA, have been trying to get this done for a 100 years. Through depressions, recessions, war's and budget shortfalls. If not now, WHEN? I'm willing to pay more so YOUR child can grow up with adequate Health coverage. Sounds like your not...
Please explain to me how the federal government is going to do a better job of controlling health care costs than the free market (which is where we should be moving toward, not away from). They do such a great job managing the Post Office and the IRS.

I agree that there is a need for health care reform but not the type of European socialist-style program that the democrats rammed through on Christmas Eve. They are doing nothing to control costs. They are trying to buy votes by supposedly insuring people that currently are not insured (the ones that get free health care now by arriving at a hospital ER). They are raising taxes now (2010) while no "reform" starts until 2014 (Senate bill) or 2013 (House). If "reform" doesn't start until 2013/2014, why not take more time and arrive at consensus legislation?

Please do not worry about my grown children. They have good jobs and can pay their own way. However, they also object to paying higher taxes for the liberal agenda of the Obama administration with their desire for a socialist economy and country.

I think I see the problem here. You and your kids are taken care of so the heck with the needs of the rest of the country. Using verbage typically reserved for Liberal bashing, let me put it this way,
Quote:
Don't post conservative nonsense.
Health insurance in the "free market" has failed miserably to provide for millions of people, you and your kids being the exception of course. Insurance, like public utility commissions (electric, water, etc.) must be regulated. In the case of health insurance they have failed to meet their obligation's to society by denying coverage to a select group of people.

95CobraR wants to play Political picture games by posting stupid political slogan's. OK, I'll try to keep up with some conservative bashing posters, just leveling the playing field.

Ernie,

I agree and isn't it amazing that the LIBERALS managed to have all of the wrong views. Gee, you would have thought that they could at least have one correct one.

Health insurance today is NOT a "free market" and it will be less so after the pols "fix" it. Remove the anti-trust exemption & remove the powers of the state commissions to require certain coverage levels to write in every policy. Allow more types of high deductable policies so people actually see what the costs are but are protected from disasters. Require all medical care services to establish and honor a price list like all other businesses that sell to the public.
The current system is "broken" but repair is what makes sense, not overhaul.

mdmull, assuming we followed your recommendations it would still leave out a great number of people who cannot afford insurance. Many of those with "good" insurance plans today are not covered from disasters. Fact is, those relying on insurance to cover their butts are often denied coverage when they need it most. Insurance, even with the proposed changes, often gives one a false sense of security.

I guess it's run it's course. Twas a good run, some great discussion, some good points, traded some good natured barbs back and forth. Then it got side tracked, such are the life of threads...

A new thread specifically on health insurance might be fun! Always up for a spirted debate.

I was thinking more along the lines of another "Let's kick Ernie in the balls" thread.
