Unhappy Haiti Chaos

It just gets worse and they still can't really get a lot organized. I know they need to get in there and start cleaning up and helping the survivors, but I don't think a lot of the people complaining about not enough being done realize just how hard it is to get to the people with all of the rubble.

It's an almost impossible situation in Haiti, no roads open, no water, no power etc. Things won't improve greatly until heavy equipment and vasts amount of supplies and manpoewr arrive. I worked on several earthquake recovery programs in LA while employed at he So. Cal. Gas Company and progress is always slow to come. Saving those still alive is the most important thing right now, the rest will follow and at some point and get better.
I wish I was younger, we would be adopting some little kids that need a home.
Hang tuff people.

Bill,

So many people have never been in an area where any type of disaster has occurred, earthquake, tornado, & etc. They just don't see what it take time to get in and do everything. I was working in San Francisco back when they had the one during the World Series and even though that didn't compare to this, it was almost impossible for a day or so to get water to fight the fires as 90% of the city is built on fill dirt and that turns to jello when it is shaken which then break water and gas lines. We managed to keep power to the computers as they have generators and turbines, but most of the land lines were out for a day or so. The later I was down in Sunnyvale when the one hit that messed up Morgan Hill but it wasn't like the San Francisco one. Just trying to get the heavy equipment in there that is needed to lift some of that debris to try and save people is going to be a hard job with the roads so full of junk and destroyed.

Those in Haiti who survived the earth quake may not survive the starvation and diseases that have followed this horrible disaster.....
