Does no one proof read his speeches? There are hundreds of gaffes and misstatements in his speeches.
Some have to be intentional but some must be mistakes. This one is just a mispronunciation of 'corps.' As a kid I had a hard time with US Marine Corps being US Marine Core. The left had a field day with GWB's garbled words, but they avoid any comments on BHO's errors of pronunciation and factual content.

SP01715 02-05-2010 08:49 AM

Like Dan said, if this was Bush the left would go crazy. Who does not know that Corp is pronounced Core? Terible...

Obviously our President doesn't know the difference.

yeah, I guess. It's hard to believe though. I guess he has never heard of the Marine Corp?

Did you say the same when the leftist liberals were pissing their pants laughing at Bush's flubs.

And this is POTUS, the most powerful man on the planet. The speeches SHOULD be practiced and stumble words should appear phonetically on the teleprompter. But then this potus makes so damn many speeches that perhaps no one has time to correct all of them. Or perhaps his rampant EGO doesn't allow anyone to dare correct HIM.

He brings to mind a couple of old saws,

Believe only half of what you read and NONE of what you hear!

And we hear from bho on a daily basis. Same campaign speeches over and over with only slight changes.

And the other old saw,

Talk is cheap.

For the most part, yes. There's a difference between flubbing a word and making a hash of the English language. I've never heard anyone but Bush II create awkward word mash-ups, which he did continually for eight years.

Obama has made several flubs during speeches, and for the most part nothing is said by the media. What if Bush had said there were 57 states? That one takes the cake IMO. Double standard, but it's always been like that so what are you gonna do?

Gunner 02-05-2010 05:38 PM

I generally have tolerance for anyone who has a job that keeps them in the public eye ten hours a day, giving speech after speech to different audiences, all while having an actual job to do. You can find a collection of stupid flubs by every President back to George W. if you look around. I thought Bush got called on many such mistakes that should have been ignored in context.

It probably became such a sport with him because the man could hardly open his mouth in any forum without sounding like an eighth-grade dropout trying to impress a room full of grownups.

Same question - why weren't all the conservatives upset when their guy was flubbing his words? I never saw any conservatives posting any threads here on how it was unfortunate that Bush made such a mess of the English language. And he made so many of then that there is actually a term for it.
Now - suddenly a democrat is in office and it becomes an issue.

Friggin' conservatie hypocrites are just as bad as liberal hypocrites.

The conservatives never considered/claimed/preached/demanded/explained/insisted that GWB was the smartest person ever to hold office.

Does he really need to be giving as many speeches as he does?

Does he need to be going to all of these town hall meetings, still, spending money ( ? millions) on travel, secret service, and local police forces to ensure security?

Is he really doing as great job ? It seems to me he initially makes some promises/plans, and then continually makes significant changes in them as he goes along, as if he and his advisors doen't really know what they are doing ? Healthcare reform is a good example of that. His appointed Secretary of Education is not a teacher (ex pro basketball player). He never taught a class, and is now going to impliment and oversee policies to improve education ?

I really question many things about this administration, not that any before were stellar either.

Hypocrites? Scan through my old posts. You will find me ALWAYS saying that Bush was terrible. But then me saying he was bad because he spent like a Democrat might not be a condemnation in your eyes. And I made fun of his concern about Nuk-You-Lar weapons. No question he fractured the language. But how many videos do you have of him fracturing it while using the teleprompter? That's why the liberal press loved to yell questions at him. He WOULD answer, bho justs waves and ignores, and Bush would say something stupid, extemporaneously, not with the aid of the teleprompter.
I bashed Bush for his spending.
I bash bho for his spending even worse than Bush, and his constant lies, his obvious raging ego, his complete ignorance of what a President should be, his constant chronic campaigning for the Presidency and his abject failure to BE President.
And flubbing a word is one thing, but when you are honoring a Navy Corpsman as a HERO, you just don't call him a HERO Corpse-Man. What a teleprompter assisted dubious honor!

VRM 02-06-2010 01:44 PM

Dan,
If you had been the only one to post I would not have said a thing. You are one of only a couple of right wingers that post regularly on this forum that I do not consider a hypocrite.

My question was "why weren't ALL the conservatives upset". You seem to be consistent in what you want in your politicians. As for the rest of the conservative folks - well, the bulk of them are friggin' hypocrites who are just as whiney as their liberal counterparts.

I'll accept that, thanx.

I want THEM [means all of them] to stop spending and stop lying.

That makes me really stupid!:(

VRM 02-11-2010 06:40 AM

So why have none of the right wingers complained about Palins use of 'hand' written notes at a recent speech?

Doesn't putting a couple of notes on your hand for a $115,000 speech indicate that she might be a bit unprepared?

Steve
