Default Tea...

(EDIT to provide context) A bumper sticker suggestion a colleague sent me, thought it was worth passing on:

Tea: It's the new Kool-Aid.

Is there any point to most Lounge threads, or is there a requirement to have one? If CobraEd can post random junk from his inbox, why am I singled out for doing the same thing... except that it probably goes against your political grain?

You're the moderator. If you want only right-approving posts in here, just say so.

Screw you!!!! Keep your BS comments to yourself. I have been here for 10 years, . . . You'll lose interest soon and we will not need to deal with your girly whining.

I didn't think either Jamo or I got hot. I'm just wondering why my mild joke provoked a justification request when so little in here - including old urban-legend and known-forgery stuff - calls any question at all. I'd like to think that all political viewpoints are welcome here... but if any of the management types want to declare otherwise, that would be fine with me.

After all, I'm here to argue about SB-100 and oil changes, not Sarah Palin's artistic abilities.

IF the Tea Party Movement is sooo silly. Why does it terrorize liberals so much??? The liberals and the lame stream press has done everything possible, including constant lying, to discount the Tea Patty, yet it continues to grow because the country can no longer stand the gross bullsh!t the liberals live by.

Gunner...my inquiry was meant simply to find out if you had forgotten a link or a picture/poster of something. Your post was a bit sparse when you first posted it. The edited reference to a bumper sticker actually now provides a sense of fulfillment which compliments your thoughts.

I could honestly give a sh!t about the political leanings of any thread, as those who have followed my comments for any length of time will attest. I do place a premium on relevant good humor and wit, regardless of which side of the aisle (isle for Buzz) it comes from. As a bumper sticker, your posted remark is actually pretty damn funny.

You might just wanna take the finger off the hair trigger and think a bit before responding.

As for CobraEd (since you singled him out), he's had a few threads closed (recently, in fact) over the years...and he's posted some of the best stuff ever on these pages...it's a percentage thing that occurs when you've been around awhile.

Ed...y'all might want to calm down a wee bit.

Gunner...got something to say? I'll wait.

I'm so ashamed !!!

I must admit that I am bored lately and posting a lot of "busy" stuff just to pass the time. I guess it has not been quite up to par. But you guys can't tell me you didn't love my "Blobfish" post !!!!!

By the way, we do not limit the variances of political thought around here, no matter how assinine they may be.

We do, however, draw the line at assholes.

Wouldn't a circle be more effective?

BTW while we are just inconveniencing electrons here a thought occurred to me, the electron carries a negative charge. It has no known components or substructure and therefore is believed to be a liberal in nature.

Fit any new members here?

I have to say a new flavor is most welcome. The Democrat and Republican flavors are getting quite distasteful.

Default Would you like a strumpet with your tea, darling?

I kinda like the whole tea party concept - Private citizens organising to make the government sit up and pay attention to their concerns. 'Course, I maintain the best way to do that is with the ballot - but we all know how the dyed in the wool sheep herd mass-mentality of partisan politics screws that up.

A nation wide group of politically-informed (hopefully) citizens getting involved in impacting government policy - what's not to like about that? As long as it does not become a mouthpiece propaganda tool for one party or the other, or morph into an agenda-driven, slogan-spouting, self-serving political entity unto its ownself, it may just become the check/balance that allows the democracy to work in the interests of the people who pay the taxes.

The danger always exists that a charismatic, ne'er do well politician who didn't cut it in the mainstream (Palin? ) or even a silver-tongued narcissist with strong ambitions can use such a movement as a campaign platform to launch a new career, but what makes something an actual movement - as opposed to a small group of people shouting loudly - is the sheer number of people who become involved.

If a few people jump on a bandwagon and make a bunch of noise, it will make some news headlines and then eventually fizzle out. If the movement swells with massive popular support, then its impact will be justifiably significant as a reflection of the sentiment and wishes of the majority of the citizens of the nation. And majority rule's a good thing, isn't it - whether it happens now or in, say, 2042... (just kidding, guys...just kidding)

I like my tea like I like my beer - dark and bitter. Which also kind of sums up my attitude about politicians too.

mmm - Guinness. I don't drink the stuff, but it's great for cooking. Last night we had a big chunk of pork tenderloin that had been marinating in Guinness for 24 hours. I cut the sucker on a bias into thick slices and seared them in a hot skillet with a bit of sesame oil. Deglazed the pan with some of the marinade and let it reduce a bit. Hog heaven!!

Oh yeah - Edit for context: It was too warm here for tea and we were fresh out of Kool-Aid, so I washed mine down with a cold Heineken instead.

I think it might be fun to cook with Guinness, but I usually drink it all before it even hits the food.

By the way - the blobfish post was great. It reminded me of old Brother McCartan who taught us mathematics back when I was a kid. He was a dopey, goofy looking old dude, but he could draw a perfect circle on a blackboard and nail you in the forehead with a piece of chalk from 30' every single time. No $hit.
