These guys do a hell of a good job !!!!
It is amazing how focused, professional, structured and disciplined these folks are. It is truely impressive!
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35505844..._central_asia/
Just a shame that humanity has created such a world where this is all necessary. Imagine if this much time, money and effort were not necessary and could be applied to benefiting humanity overall.
When we travel abroad and go on tours of historic places, all we would hear about continually was; this site was detroyed and rebuilt X number of times when XYZ nation and ABC nation invaded. One example, . . . the Parthenon in Greece was basically intact until the Persians stored all of their ammunition in it and the Venetians blew it up from an adjacent mountain.
I must be naive, but why werent the Turks happy to live in Turky, Why wernt the Persians happy to live in Persia, etc etc etc. What the hell is the point??? Why don't people just live where they are and enjoy their own culture????
Now if country A had no natural resourses and country B had tons of resources, then you could possibly see a reason. But that historically has not been the case world wide. And even then, just migrate individually to country B and adopt their ways ?????
I know, I am naive, but what the hell !!!!!!

I agree with your perspective, and support the U.S effort.
But think about it.
In the last 150 years, Britain has twice undertaken major campaigns in Afganistan
Russia, a long and bloody war which they lost.
Now the U.S, and allies
The british ideology was to install and maintain colonialism
The russian, to install communism.
the U.S, to install individual liberty and freedom.
The country has nothing IMHO to offer to the world.
Three totally different reasons to be in someone elses country.
Why are we all there.
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing but the greatest respect for those who are in harm's way, but deep down, I have to scratch my head.

I'd say the 'liberty and freedom" crap is a cover. Our real reason to be there is to kill the MF's that swear to kill us and want to train there. One of the better reasons for a war than has historically been the case.
Most wars, and there have been thousands of them is because, "I want what you got!" Even if they got next to nothing. OR "I want MORE power." Doesn't matter how much power anyone has, they want MORE. Humans ARE NOT nice animals. And all the denying that we are not animals is an utter waste of time.
Japan's material needs were probably the easiest explanation of their expansionist ideas in the 30's and 40's. But power was a big part too.
WAR IS A NORMAL PART OF THE HUMAN CONDITION.

Dan, you nailed it !
Wouldn't it be nice if the world could just get along. Hardie Har !
They all want what we have, and use religion, wealth and power to attempt to kill us.
War is a natural condition of the human race (unfortunately). Do them before they do you.
