It would be great to see them actually race real cars again, but I don't think NASCAR is going to give up any of their power and control and allow it to happen.

Should NASCAR use the Mustang, Challenger, and Camaro body styles? What if one of those three is more aerodynamic? Allow different angles and sizes of wings/spoilers to compensate? I think they should, and let the cars' chips lay where they fall.

I definitely think they should let them use real cars. When NASCAR was first formed, they used their street cars and aerodynamics had nothing to do with the rules. The mechanics will figure out which style has the best and what they can do to make it better and that will filter on down to the production cars. Now with this thing called the NASCAR Car there is no innovations to be made.

Ron, your absolutely correct. NASCAR is great, but it has become way too specilized and restricted for true inovation by the race teams.
Go race them Mustang's...beat off those Challengers and send the Camaros' to the rear.

Wouldn't it be fun and wouldn't inspire car sales ! Use the real thing.

Bill,

There was an attempt to run some races by some group using real cars as mentioned above but it never made it. I would almost bet that NASCAR with their money and power put a stop to it. I remember the talking mouths in the booth running on and on about how dangerous it would be to race the Mustangs and such today. NASCAR is a monopoly with their heads up their Ass**. They will use any means to stop any other racing group from really amounting to anything. And they know if some group could get started, such as the old Trans Am series a lot of people would watch that instead of their boring, NASCAR designed tank going around in circles.

I watched the Rolex series race yesterday and in the GT group a Corvette was doing pretty well for a while.
