Pretty soon we'll be all driving smart cars anyway with mandated 35mpg.

This is off the subject but does somewhat apply to the smart cars. Yesterday while in my eye doctors office I was looking through some car magazine he has and it showed a test section set up between San Francisco and Los Angles where they are going to test some electric cars. Every 30 to 50 miles, depending on the terrain, there would be a recharging station to plug into and recharge the batteries. It takes 8 hours to recharge them. So the trip would take forever and I don't think it is worth the waste of money to do this. Up here where I live, the mountains would drain the batteries in about the first two miles of one of the long steep grades. I would like to see an affordable car, and by this I mean one that isn't over $45K that would get 35 to 50 MPG.
