Ron,

I had to pay the taxes on my home. None left. I even had to add a couple of hundred. My property taxes are 8,344.00/yr paid quarterly. And that's on a 100 x 200 lot.

$8,344 a year?!?! Holy tax crisis, Batman! I know of huge ranches in these parts that don't pay that! AND we don't have a state income tax!!

And my taxes are the lowest in my county. A few towns over it's not unheard of to pay 15k for the same size property. When I moved in here in 93 my taxes were around 4.5k.

You need to get out of NJ. I still live in California, but I will be a full time Arizona resident when I can't take the taxes anymore. I already own a house there, so I am ready to go.

Roscoe,

Boy your taxes are really out of sight. I thought that ours was bad out here, but nothing compared to that.

SP01715; How do the Arizona taxes compare to California's?

When you move to AZ you get to enjoy some really good things.
Reasonable property taxes, 365 days of good weather (very little rain and no earth quakes), great highways for cruising in your cobra, easy vehicle registration, very little smog (dust in Pheonix) sometimes, and great law enforcement. Great homes for the money, plenty of lakes and water...and the best part...you only have to check your gun when you go into a bar, if the owner posts a sign "no guns in this bar".
Harrrr!

My property taxes are in Arizona are 10% of what they are in california. My electric bill is 1/3 of my bill in California. This is with a pool and central air and heat. I live near the beach in California so I don't even have air in my house. The laws in Arizona are much less restrictive as well. I agree 100% with Bill's post above.

Question

Thanks for the information guys. It is no wonder that so many people are leaving this state. They are just pricing themselves out of the living range of the average working person. I never realized that property taxes in Arizona were so low. How about the other taxes such as state tax, if they have it, and sales and etc?

Ron

state tax is much lower, but some cities add on their own tax. The sales tax inside the city limits of Lake Havasu City is about the same as where I live in Ca. Car registration is much cheaper on the vehicles I keep there, as well as no smog testing in the county that my house is in.

I have a friend who sold his place here and moved to Lake Havasu City about four years ago and the taxes then was one of the reasons he left here. He was a great machinist and did a lot of work for me on my various cars and projects. He tried to talk me into moving then too, and now I am starting to think maybe I should have done so.

It's a great town. Close to Vegas if you need to go to a big city for any reason. Lot's of people with toys out there including hot rods, muscle cars etc...

Greece has already had an effect on our markets. We are headed in the same direction in regards to debt.

Life doesn't stink dudes! Sh!t does - when it happens - but that's not all the time and when sh!t isn't happening, life is generally sweet - is it not? Everyone is happy when our cups runneth over, but you can still enjoy it when your cup is only half or a quarter full (you just have to sip a bit more slowly until you can top it up again, that's all!)
