Post Top 10 Places For Speeding Tickets

I was somewhat surprised at the number 1 place. Also that California wasn't on the list.

I'm not surprised MA and VT made the list. I am very surprised that CT did not.
I used to do the Boston to Burlington VT trip all the time when I worked for New England Tel back in the '80s. It was a nice 256 mile trip, and I would do 85-90 mph all the way up. There were only about 2 state troopers in VT that patrolled I89 back then. I see a lot more of them these days.
And MA is getting oppressive - all the towns are trying to make up budget shortfalls, and tickets bring in some extra cash. Lowell, near where I live, has a laser trap set up daily that always gets a lot of cars.

A little surprised that Wyoming is at #2. Heck it wasn't long ago that they didn't even have speed limits on some roads.

I think the key is "...based on the number of speeding tickets issued per capita."

The list is seeded with low population states.

I know I have helped push the numbers up in NY, NJ and PA.

South Carolina must smile when they see a GA plate. Like shooting fish in a barrel.

Check this story out, about the UK.

Also another thing is that they are still laying off patrolmen out here. And with the huge area we have to cover even up in Northern Calif., it is not unusual to drive for miles and not see a patrol car of any kind. Then yesterday Redding announced they were going to be cutting 4 more police jobs and two park rangers jobs. So it would make sense that a lower and more compressed area would have more tickets, especially Washington as I am sure they have police everywhere with all of the VIPs running around. My last ticket of any kind was March 1969. Now watch as I have probably jinxed myself.

Back in 67 I was stationed just outside of Camp Lejeune, NC. I had a 67 GTO, 4 speed, and would 'swoop' home almost every weekend. I'd pick up 4 other Marines and, if I remember correctly, charge like 5 bucks each.

My first experience with 'Southern Hospitality' was driving up 113 in NC. Speed limit I believe was 60 and I was coming around a turn and BOOM ....speed limit sign 25mph (Snow Hill, NC). I was pulled over and got in line of several other cars with Marines. By the way, they knew it was a pay week. The JP actually sat in my passenger seat as he took 25 bucks for the fine.

My next experience was in Alexandria, VA where 113 met up with Interstate 95. I must have gotten 4 or 5 tickets there over a period of a couple of months....always on a pay week. One time I had a 396 Chevelle along side me and we were doing about 110 when we went through the radar. The cop had a 427 Ford and caught us in no time flat.

Anyway, when I got discharged I used to get these annoying registered letters from VA informing me that my driving privileges were suspended and I would have to come down, take a test, and pay a fee to get it back. After about 4 registered letters I sent a registered one back informing the powers that be that if they promise not to send any more letters I promise I would not even fly over Virginia. The letters stopped.

The MOST active place for speeding tickets seems, at times, to be the lane DIRECTLY behind my Cobra!!! lol !!!
