Warbird Gathering
Did anyone near Dayton have an opportunity to witness this. Once in a lifetime: Gorgeous sight
I can't imagine what is was like to look up and see these fantastic planes overhead.

I had the pleasure of flying in a B-17 called "Nine-O-Nine" about 5 years ago which was a fabulous ride. These aircraft were surprisingly smooth but the wind noise was terrible. While we were up, I was trying to imagine young men taking to the air in these planes trying to drop bombs on the enemy while other planes were trying to shoot them down. All the while the only thing between them and the oncoming fighters was a thin sheet of aluminium skin and of course it was freezing cold to boot.
These men (and women) were definitely members of the greatest generation.

And now Wayne you know why those leather World War 11 flight jackets they bomber crews are worth so much if you can find an original one in good shape. That was all they had to keep themselves warm at 30,000 feet. I have never had the chance to ride in one of those old planes but would love to. They had a B-29 scheduled to come here a year or so ago but canceled it because of the weather.

The debt of thanks we owe to these guys is monumental.
Was in the pits with Kineticmotorsports for Grand-Am at Watkins Glen this past weekend.
Took the time to visit the Glenn L Curtis museum near Bath.
WOW!!--what a great place. I had no idea the man was involved in so many technical areas.
You gotta see the side by side Allison V-12s driving a common reduction gear as used in the P-58 (a big P-38) Mind-blowing!!

WOW! I got chills watching that, Thanks a bunch for sharing. My dad has 4 bronze stars from 4 major campaigns during the war. He didn't fly, he was on the ground w/ a 50 cal. The gratitude is monumental for sure.
