Default Dumbest question you've ever heard

I recently recalled one of the dumbest questions I've ever heard. It made me think that might be a good topic for us to share such moments with others. So feel free to add whatever you like. But it needs to be really dumb to qualify. Here's my story.

In 1969 I was attending Air Force ROTC Summer Camp with a bunch of other cadets. At one point they took us to see some aircraft including a HH43 Rescue Helicopter like this one.

The unusual twin rotor design makes the area directly above the cockpit a virtual blender of whirling blades. At one point, a cadet raised his hand to ask this question. "Are the ejection seats (it doesn't have ejection seats) timed to fire the pilots between the blades?" The rest of us cadets looked at each other and groaned as we assumed the pilot giving us the tour would think we were all as clueless as the cadet who asked the question.

I think that copter design trumps the cadet's dumb question... gotta wonder what the ME's got into the night before they came up with that thing!

Dumbest question I ever heard? Its "What's the dumbest question you ever heard?"

Sorry, when you pitch it underhand you gotta expect someone to hit it.

Knowing the crowd that hangs out here, I thought of that too. That's why I didn't ask even a single question in my original post. .... WHIFFF, Strike One.

No such thing as a dumb question, just stupid answers.

If there is no such thing as a dumb question, there are definitely some people who abuse the privilege.

This reminds me of one the things my ex-wife used to do that always left me shaking my head. She'd take a sip of milk from the carton, turn to me and say, "Honey, I think this milk is bad. Here, taste it."

Now why in hell would I want to taste bad milk. If it's bad, throw it out. Don't hand it to me.

Asking the next passenger weather she is also going to Boston in the flight. The reason I just asked her was because she was really pretty and I was lucky enough to sit next to her.

I told her I didn't respect her now.

After being a professor for a number of years, this topic has a different meaning to me than maybe you.

Before you think the question is dumb, think of the possibility that you did not make it clear enough such that the question was asked.

So, the worse question comes at the wrong time as, "Are you sure I can't get pregnant with this?"

Dumb relates to, "Is it real?"

And most damaging, "Honey, does this dress make me look fat?"

On a cruise ship I encountered a woman looking pretty lost and stopped to see if I could be of assistance. She WAS lost but I soon figured out why. Her question to me was, "Can you please tell me if these stairs go up or down?" Took me a second to process this, but politely told her, From here they go up, but feel free to use them the other way when you get to the top.
Other questions heard on my first and last cruise.
Does this elevator go to the front of the boat?
Does this ship generate its own electricity?
Does the crew sleep on board?

The dumbest things I hear everyday are each and everyone of the TV commercials.
Sick crap and shouldn't be allowed.
