Delete,

Should have just left it up to CW or Jamo. Just did not want an explosion.

Are political posts back?

tcrist 11-08-2012 10:30 AM

I actually had posted a link to the "no political threads" sticky but thought better of it and decided to back off and let CW and Jamo do their thing.

I have been blasted too many times for voicing my opinion. Though it to be better to just STFU.

We tolerate discussing religion, moral and ethical issues but politics is out. Why is that? Seems it would work fine so long as there is a hard line taken on moderating personal attacks of posters and political figures and or groups.

I thought we gave up discussing all of that stuff a long time ago. If you want to discuss non-Cobra related subjects, you might find facebook to be more fun. ;)

ahhhh... sorry, I get it now. Didn't realize there was a statute of limitations for attitude. Thanks for letting us know your stripes have changed. You should run for public office!

There was no attitude or stripe change on my part.

I vaguely remember the moderators changing the rules at some point.

I respect the new rules; whatever they changed to. Not that I remember anything correctly.

Not disrespecting the rules here in the least bit and I don't think Ive violated those rules. I respect. Just presenting an opportunity to discuss. Seriously, no more appropriate than discussing Cobras when you don't own one.

tcrist 11-12-2012 06:41 PM

There is a sticky in the Lounge area concerning this subject. I'll just leave it at that.

America

It is our God given right as Americans to judge, critisize and condemn any person or collective group of people who do not conduct themselves exactly like we do or for not acting exactly like we want them to. :D

There you go not separating church and state. I think it is OK to discuss religion, but not politics. You are most likely going to get this thread closed unless you stick to religion. ;) :JEKYLHYDE

Been watching this thread from the beginning. Obviously, you folks are aware of the guidelines because you're discussing them.

Changing the guidelines is simply not open for discussion. That decision was reached by the owner after watching Ron and I trying to herd cats in here...for years. We were spending the vast majority of our moderating time dealing with political threads. Not fair to us, certainly, but also not fair to the majority of members who simply could not get our assistence in posting pics, editing threads on other discussions and the like.

I love politics...I usually found myself embroiled in the same discussions/arguments as many of you. I have found more than enough other outlets for such discussions. Some of us even have another site where we spend hour after hour hating each other about politics, simply because we don't like us either.

Thanks for keeping the discussion a discussion.

Nobody here is discussing politics. We're discussing our ability to discuss politics. Why is this not open for discussion?

I find it pretty simple...

At your house your wife makes the rules, just guessing here, and if you or anybody else don't like the rules....leave.

This is Brent's House......goes the same way here as at your house.

Jamo already explained why Brent made this rule.

BTW - I was one of the people that caused the rule.

Honestly, you just proved why political discssions invariably go south. Folks shut out what others are saying/posting and just post out of reflex.

I went out of my way to acknowledge that folks in this thread were discussing the guidelines (well, after the initial posts at least) rather than engaging in a political discussion...and I thanked folks for that.

You can most certainly discuss your ability or inability to discuss politics. It just isn't going to be changed.

Thanks again for making the point as to why that is so. :p

Oh, and by the way...since you took the time to find a thread from 2009...you might be interested in becoming aware that the following has been the first thread on this page since March 2010.
