San Antonio out of gasoline
so the whole holiday all the families cars are parked with about an 1/8 tank of gas. We are being told maybe by Tuesday, stations will have gas.
there are one or two now with gas but the lines are 150 cars plus

I feel for my Texan brothers.
The fuel shortage is likely do to real problems, and it is possibly a good thing. If gasoline was plentiful and cheap as normal, there would be thousands of people driving around looking at all the damage, out of normal curiosity. Even though no ill intentions, they would be getting in the way of the first responders, who need to be in the area.
It is possible that creating a fuel shortage is part of the plan to manage the situation, but I seriously doubt it. The reasons given made sense.
I ran a gas station in 1978 when the blizzard hit. I was called by the national guard and asked if I had fuel in the tanks, which I did, but I did not have power to pump it. I told them if they could transport me (all roads were closed and most impassable) and bring a 3 phase generator I would pump all the fuel I had for them. It was clear that I would not pump fuel to the public. They found another station with power and didn't need me, in the end. It is only logical that the machinery needed to restore the damage gets what fuel is available, as a first priority.

Dallas seems to be getting better. There was no premium gas for the last two days within ten miles of my house. I filled up the Cobra at Costco a few minutes age, with no waiting line. Most stations are still out, though.

when a station gets fuel here they are waiting for the tanker.
one Valero got 9000 gallons, in 5 hours it was gone.
people are going nuts.
they keep telling us there isn't a fuel shortage, but i guess with the 8th grade education here they don't understand when you
don't keep up with demand that is the definition of a shortage

I'm sure there is a shortage, but it is made worse by the social media. The day after Harvey hit land, my wife noted that the women on the local home owners page were going nuts telling everybody to go get gas before the stations ran out. Also, I spoke to one person who saw a pick up truck getting gas and he had 12-13 5 gal. cans in the back he was filling up as well and I'm sure there are many other similar stories. The gas stations are finally are getting smart and allowing only 10 gals. per customer.

This is just like the fake toilet paper shortage Johnny Carson started back in the day.

you need to think bigger than 5 gallon jugs.....some people are pulling in with 150 gallon truck mounted poly-pro tanks and filling them up.
remember everything is bigger in Texas.
and no they are not getting smarter, can't fix stupid

Yes, a little misplaced attention can have unintended consequences. Johnny Carson Causes A Toilet Paper Shortage In 1973
