Default Car Accident, Appreciate Your Prayers

I was headed to a Doc app. Turned onto the highway was going 30 mph and WHAM...... a lady hit me in the back of my truck. All I saw was white in my mirror. She and the Sheriff said she was going 50 to 60 mph. I saw she was looking down and did not hit the brake.

The back is hurt badly, the box is sagging down about 4". Don't know if the frame is bent yet. She was nice and said she'll pay for everything. I called my insurance company and hers. I took several pics of the truck showing the damage. Was hit so hard that the force knocked my rear view mirror off windshield. Have never felt such a impac on the street.
I'm very,..surprised there isn't more damage with her speed. So glad,.....I wear seatbelts ! She's ok, but hit her forehead on the steering wheel, but thankfully she is ok.

The Xray showed legiment tear's around the fused area where I had broken my neck some years ago. around #6 & #7. Have vertebrae cervical sprain and discharge in struction. Have ligament tear's in my right shoulder and tear of two rotator cuffs. Meaning,......painful crap. Could have been worse for both of us.

I have a I haven't been able to check it out, but I'm sure it will be totaled. Only 72,000 miles on it. Just depends on how much of the frame and bed are damaged.

I still hurt head to toe especially my neck, right upper back and right shoulder. I start physical therapy next Monday.

I broke my neck years ago, so I three vert fused.

What a 56th birthday ! Lol......

Sorry to hear of your accident but very glad it wasn't worse.

As a suggestion, you might want to consult with an accident attorney. I'm not proposing you hire an accident chaser------I'm suggesting you talk with an attorney about the accident. It sounds as if you have numerous medical issues, and some may not appear for some time. You need to ensure your issues are covered as much as possible.

For what it's worth, I've had both rotator cuffs surgically repaired. The surgery is no big deal, but the recovery is a bit challenging. Regardless, all the best for a speedy outcome and recovery.

Kevin,

That is to bad and I am glad that you weren't hurt worse. Getting hit from the rear can be very bad especially if you don't see it coming. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Ron

I agree with Sailfish, do talk to an atty. A friend and I were sitting at a red light in his Fiat 500L (OK, not a real car- he has gotten rid of it since due to service problems) about 15 mo. ago. A lady stopped behind us accidently had her foot slip off the clutch and she jumped into us. Not a lot of damage to the car. At first, my neck was stiff. But a week later it was gone. Now, 15 months later I have problems with my neck popping and discomfort. It is not something I need to have corrected. But it did not appear right away and could have been a bad situation if it was since I did not seek medical attention and am now retired with only Medicare.

Unhappy

Prayers go out to you. Sorry to hear of the damage to your vehicle and your neck.

I had this happen to me once before. I was rear-ended as I was hitting the brake. 4 cars were behind me tailgating each other and then everything turned into a 5 car pile up in seconds. I didn't think of anything of it. They sent me to the hospital for an x-ray. I seemed to feel okay that day. Then the next day my neck started to hurt. My neck hurt for a damned good 5 years afterward and I didn't even get hit that hard. It doesn't take much at all to mess up your neck. I can only imagine getting slammed at 50-60 MPH. That is a terrible thing.

I'm going to now as my pain is increasing everyday. I'll get an attorney that is specialty of neck, spine and back injuries. Is that what you guys hired ?

In the past from racing dirt sprint cars, I got bumps and bruises, but never like this pain, it's just different. Pain/ headache on the back of my head, shoulders, down my spine and right lower back. I use ice and moist heat, are not very affective. Hot long showers too and pain meds.

Sorry to hear that you guys have ongoing pain from your accidents.
