Fred,
This is the way that I do it. First I get the URL of the picture that I want to embed and then when I get to the place in a post where I want it I manually put in the [IMG] tags.
Example: [img] URL of picture[/img] I put a space between the ] and URL so it won't think this is an actual picture but when you do it don't put that space in.

The space was to keep it from working. You don't want any spaces when you do it to put in a picture. If I hadn't put the space in there it would have tried ton show that as a link or picture.
Here is an example. The first one I won't put any space in and the picture will be there. The second one I will put a space in and leave out the ] bracket and you can see the URL of the picture. it won't show the picture.

oh. well one thing is right......i was confused.
when i use your method it still won't embed, if i just paste the link in the image drop down it works fine, without any [img] designation in front and in the back

OK, I tried the Image drop down and it works but it did put the [img] tags on each end of the URL. I am guessing this is the Image Drop Dwon that you used.

the pictures i now can do takes a couple tries, i have never once gotten a video embedded.
the way you embed a pic seems like the manual way the forum software does for you.

This site won't allow embedded videos. If you have one on You Tube it will just put the link in and you go to You Tube to watch it. And yes, I use the manual way on most sites as sometimes the Forum software won't handle the URL depending on what storage site I get it from.
