Hey Tru,

Welcome back. We missed you. To much nice weather I guess. It is 62 here right now and is supposed to get up to around 68 this afternoon. I just came in from looking at my weeds and they need mowing again. The neighbor across the street is having a couple of trees taken out so I went and watched that for a while. Kind of like one of Earl's boriiiing days.

Freekin 13 outside.

Mike, since this is a project car, why not make things a little simpler and work from there.

A frame front suspension. Tube rear axel and go from there. These IRS and IFS setups are a bit pricey and well, unless your dad is handing you hundreds to build the car, you might want to keep your costs down.

I might be willing to give you a SVT front Rack & Pinion with power for your car... if you were going to use it.

Rick, if you do happen to venture by, at you going to par-take of the festivities in Cleveland????

Kristen, that may be arranged. I suspect I would have to have my son sit with someone while I tooled my way to the airport and picked you up.

Who knows???

Tru, when we are ready to get the Cobra (about a year off though ) we will probably use the equilty off of the house, since we plan on doing all of the work ourselves, saving a lot of money. To tell you the truth, I think that if I build the frame we might end up doing everything, when I really would rather be riding in it (or driving.) Maybe I could weld up the frame, have it checked out by a Chassis shop, make it into a rolling chassis and sell it. Decisions, decisions....

The baby mike thing isn't goin to fly with me.

Cool

I'm Back,

And I am tired. Just finished mowing the front and back yards but was sweating so much my eyes were stinging. I looked at that upper lot and out along front and thought no way. To hot and I don't even know if the old mower that I use on them will start. They are so undermined with Gopher tunnels you can't walk more than a few steps without sinking and it is really hard on mower blades so I have an old one just for that. So I came in and took a shower to get cooled down. Darn heat.

Ron

EDIT:: Decided to see if the old mower would start and I put some gas in it and checked the oil and the darned thing started first pull. The new one is giving me fits for some reason to get it started the first time. Anyway the upper driveway and out front are now mowed and that just leaves the lot. Mike, want to make some money for your Cobra??

Ron, if it includes more mowing, no. I don't think our mower is gonna be able to handle the land that we're gettin. (5.5 Acres, and we will probably have to mow it once a week )

Got a new bone head in shop class today, the other bone heads brother (the one that sent the red hot steel flyin up in the air.)

Mike,

I am seriously thinking abut taking what little money I have left and buying one of the garden tractors with a mower and also getting a couple of other attachments to work in that upper lot with. I can't get one into the front yard as the gates aren't wide enough, but by going down the back alley, I can get into the back yard as I have big double gates there. And I got up at 1:15 AM this morning with that pinched nerve in my hip and sick from the pain and also the getting to hot yesterday didn't help. I have a feeling this is going to be a long miserable day of just trying to take it easy. I hate to complain with the beautiful weather we are having, but I just think that I really did to much yesterday after not doing much for so long.

Unhappy

Mike,

I couldn't sleep with the pain from the pinched nerve in my hip and that was just making my nerves worse so I got up and messed around for a while before I got settled down enough to log on. I think it is supposed to be in the upper 60s today and possibly hit 70. This is going to be a very long and depressing day as I had wanted to get that upper lot mowed. But right now I can't hardly put any weight on my right leg and will have to wait until that nerve works itself out from where it is pinched. Whatever you do, never get old. I may try to go to Sears today as I really need to get one of those tractors and mowers set ups. Just to old and fragile to spend 5 hours walking behind a mower any more.

Ron

The nice weather that you had was just to get your hopes up. Didn't I tell you a day or so ago that Winter was on it's way back.

Ron, if you get a Sears mower, you are going to need to assemble it. with that garage of yours, it should be super charged and custom painted.

Mike, does your dad know you are doing this???

Kristen, I agree about the cards for Mike. He should have an address somewhere we can post to.

In a matter of 36 hours, I went from a casual weekend with a championship game on Sunday to working on three vehicles. This is God's way of keeping me busy???? He truely has a sense of humor.

I hope it gets above 20 over the weekend.

Tru,

No assembly. I refuse to do that unless I can have the 289 HiPo that I want in it. If I do get one they can just delliver it assembled and ready to go. The last thing that I assembled ran backwards.

I agree that Mike should set up a place we can post to him at. With all of our help, he should have either one of the great Cobras or the weirdiest looking one around.

Hope that your weather gets better. Ours changes to fast at times. It may be in the low 40 to mid 30s one day and in the high 60s the next. Hard to adjust to at my age. What 3 vehicles are you working on?

Ron

EDIT- Double post.

Ron, I saw your thread about the Diesel VW. I bet we could shoehorn one of the Caterpillar C15's (625hp, 928 cubes) into an older F250-350...or make a really twisted go cart

Mike,

Back from Sears. I had to go get a new air filter for the newer mower and then I started the old one and mowed the upper lot. It was just terrible looking with everything else mowed yesterday. Forecast says rain starting Sundy and lasting all next week. I also looked at the garden tractors Sears has on sale and would love to have one, but I don't have a place to store one right now. I have two old sheds out back that I need to tear down and build one good work and storage shed in place of. Temperature is right on 70 right now and really nice.
Actually I was thinking of one of the better deisel engines for a Cobra replica. Then let them try to make me smog it. I know where there is one that is about finished except for the drive train and paint. Put a deisel engine in it and forget about SB-100. And they have them in cars in Europe that will run pretty darn good. I have so many things going on right now that I can't keep track of them. It is easy to have ideas. My problem is paying for them.

I would love to have a Diesel Powered Hot Rod sometime. Im thinking of a twin turboed 7.3 Powerstroke in a 32 Hi-boy roadster replica. Now THAT would be different.

Mike,

Since I know absolutely nothing about diesel engines, just how much power and at what RPMs would that one you mentioned make? I am not a drag racer, so really great quartermile times aren't to important to me. I want something that will go fast and handle great as I like the road tracks. And as I said, with the SB-100 numbers impossible to get up here, a dieselengine would get me out of the smog hassell.

Ron, are you talking about the one that I want to put in a rod or the Cat C15?

The one for the rod. It would be priceless to see one of these smog referees faces when they opened the hood to do their smog bit and saw a deisel engine setting in there. No smog equipment required at this time.
