I've heard of those arranged marrages between people. Did you have to move to Cal. to meet her or was this a swap of photos??

So, how long have you been married?

I am at the 25 years mark. Man, that is a long time...now that I think about it.

So, what do you get your wife of 25 years? I mean isn't this supposed to be the silver year, or something?

BABIES,

Hillbilly Birth

Deep in the back woods,of Letcher County Kentucky a hillbilly's wife went into labor in the middle of the night, and the doctor was called out to assist in the delivery. Since there was no electricity, the doctor handed the father-to-be a lantern and said, "Here. You hold this high so I can see what I am doing!."

Soon, a baby boy was brought into the world. "Whoa there", said the doctor, "Don't be in such a rush to put that lantern down I think there's another one coming."

Sure enough, within minutes he had delivered a baby girl. "Hold that lantern up, don't set it down there's another one!" Said the doctor.

Within a few minutes he had delivered a third baby. "No, don't be in a hurry to put down that lantern, it seems there's yet another one coming!" cried the doctor.

The redneck scratched his head in bewilderment, and asked the doctor, . . .

"You reckon it might be the light that's attractin' 'em?"

me and my hubby, 20 years in September. hmmm. yes, tru, 25 is silver. If she doesn't already have a nice silver charm bracelet, get one, and if you aren't at the last minute, give her a few charms to get started. James Avery is a really nice silver jewelry store. A charm with a heart, and anniversary date on it..... the two boys heads (silver charm heads with birthdates on them)...

hmmm. Mine is gold, got it a long time ago... I have an apple on it (teacher) I have a little whale tail charm from our honeymoon to hawaii.... all kinds..... Anyway, just a suggestion of something sentimental, silver, and not just more knickknacks lying around....

Of course, money backed by silver certificates is always good....

a weekend away is always good.... yeah, can't remember the last time we did that..... eat when/what you want, watch what you want.... none of the "but I wanna go see batman...."!!! or eat t Chili's stuff.
I was just thinking about the bracelet because it is a nice, small, compact way of covering lots of events!!!
Even not wearing it much, it means a lot to me....

I lost it once. Found in a restaurant parking lot. Got the clasp replaced immediately!

Tru, Take her on a cruise...they are greeeeeat.....the wife and I did one for the 20th, the 26th is coming up in 8 days, and the grandaughters 2nd birthday in 3 days.

The Cobra is slowly progressing....mostly little things right now cause of the recoupin....have to be careful not to overdo it or the pain gets bad.

That was a good one Ron.

K, sorry to hear about your friends dad. My dad has been in and out of the hospital since Thanksgiving with strokes...in bad shape now....it is rough to see him go from healthy and active to this in just a few days....now they say we should take him off of the machines....tough decisions. And on top of it my wife's grandmother is going down hill rapidly....hospice says a week or so, and she was just active a few weeks ago.

K, on a positive note, enjoy London, embrace life, and have a safe and positive trip.............Earl

Tru,
We love our two kids more than life itself. We spend every minute with them. We are around them most every day all day long. They have never been to a day care and have only been watched by my mother in law on few occasions. We simply don't leave our kids with anyone.

That being said. When they do go to grandma and grandpa's house. My wife and I sure enjoy just the two of us for a while. Ever how short that may be, it's quality time.

We have noticed the house sure gets quiet and lonely without them here though.

Kristen,
We are sorry for your loss. Words can never replace the emtiness you feel, but time will help you both to get through. You should still go to Ohio if there is any way possible to do so. The trip will do you good. Take Joanne with you.

The wife and I have been together for twenty years, though we only got married in 88. She is the love of my life and my soul mate. I would be lost without her. And no she is not looking over my shoulder either.

Pre-arranged by God! I was single and in a dead end computer job and through a series of odd happenings I was offered a job here in Brawley in June 1998. Met Jenny a few months later and now we will celebrating FIVE years this December. Time has gone fast and I would say it still feels like a honeymoon but our 3 year old reminds me it is not! I wouldn't trade how things worked out for anything.

Kristen, sorry for the loss of your friends dad.

Ron, pictures from vacation certainly! Sorry about the double post on the New River. The internet was all goofy (sorry for the highly technical terms) and dropped off right after I posted. When things were supposedly working the post wasn't there so I posted again. Now they are both there.

Also Kristen. There IS nothing better than Wisconsin. If any of you like water parks and are up that way, check out Wisconsin Dells. The whole town is a water park! And less you naysayers think water park and Wisconsin winters don't go together, the hotels there have the parks indoors including one 4 story waterslide. http://www.dells.com/

Although I drew a remarkable crowd as I was the only Cobra in a sea of Corvettes, I did not win any place. But those Corvettes did.

So, Kristen, I suppose you might be in London and Maybe you will not.

Five years is good. Is she older, the same age or younger than yourself?

tru, it's always tough to be an outsider

If I assume the older/younger was directed at me, she is several years younger. The first thing we did that didn't include our friends was to go for a ride in the Cobra after our softball game was over. A few weeks later she asked and got to drive it.

Ahh caught by the cobra. Don't ya just love it when things go as planned.

When we went to Ohio a few years ago we stayed at a hotel that had a HUGE pool inside it. It had a very large Carribian pirate ship in the center of the pool and several large water cannons. The water was not real deep so the kids copuld play and have a great time. That was a neat pool for everyone.

Ron,

What the heck is in that cave that makes it so toxic?

Steve,

That is an old abandoned Gold Mine and I think that mountain has every element know to man kind in it. They call it the Iron Mountain Mine. There is iron, gold, silver, copper, and things that I don't even know what they are. When it rains the water comes doen through the fissures of the rock and into the mine and leaches out all that toxic stuff. They have spent millions and still don't have a solution. They did build a debree dam several years ago with the idea it would catch the water and the toxic waste would sink and the water would go over the overflow. First problem was they forgot that after so long that crap would fill up the holding lake and it started going over the overflow. They put some kind of steel in there to stop that and the steel was supposed to last for at least 75 years. They had to replace it in 3 years. They are still doing studies to try and figure out how to stop that. You should see the small river that is below that place where it has drained into it.

Brent,

This should look better than your river. I took it today while I was up at Redding on the Sun Dial Bridge.

Hey Ron, maybe diverting that mine water to the New River will work and they will cancel each other out. I found some pictures of the Salton Sea last night that a friend took from the air when I took him and his wife up for an arial tour of the valley. There should have been some arial shots of the New River and the Alamo but I haven't found them. I have some shots of the valley too, but everyone has seen dirt.

tru. yes, ohio is still on. I was going to change my flight and come in late Friday...(when the funeral was set for Friday)

but, now that it's Thursday, the plan is the same as the original.

I have been put in charge of a couple of things for the funeral, so spending a bit of time today getting things together. Now that I'm home for a while, must pack boys' trunks for camp. Finish up tomorrow evening, pack for me, and head out Friday. My flight out of DFW is at 9 a.m. Early, early.

hmmm. My friends dad is 'James Early'. Obit in Dallas Morning News. Professor at SMU, English dept. chairman, etc.

I can sit in my parents living room, and see their living room! Joanne and I have been best friends forever. I have 2 sisters, but I'm like a sister to her..... (she has 2 older brothers)

anyway, enough of that. Still going to Ohio. Might drag her with me......

Brent,

The fishing there is pretty good. In fact there were several boats around while I was watching. Rick Parker used to come up here and fish that river down to Anderson.

Here is Redding's pride and joy, the infamous Sun Dial Bridge.

What type of surface on the bridge? It reminds me of the old steel grate bridges. I hated going acros those on my motorcycle and knobby tires. This one looks like a foot bridge though and would be neat to see down through as you walked across.

Brent,

The surface is glass and it is opaque, so you can't see through it. They have it lit at night and that is when it looks good. Only bicycles are allowed on this one. That and walking. On the other side is nice as you can walk right down under it to the river and it is at least 10/15 degrees cooler down there.
