At least they are doing something about it. And it seems to be working. Seems like we could bill "south of the border" for some clean up.

There was talk of just damming it at the border since it was a man made mistake to begin with. I didn't think it was a bad idea as it would make them clean up thier act a bit down there.

I've created a "MONSTER", but boy o boy, what a darling of one.......
At least once a day the granddaughter wants to go swimmin....
I swimmin, I swimmin, pleeeeeease.....boy is that hard to resist.
Luckily I have been doing small things in the "HOT" garage on the Cobra so a nice swim serves to "COOL" me down!!!!
Next project iis to get the fuel tank mod done, install it and run the fuel lines......hoping to get an answer from one of the "experts" we have on here to my Fuel Rail problem that I posted on shop talk and also PM'd to Mr. Fixit.......
Temp was 92 earlier around noon, has dropped to 82 with the afternoon clouds and rain threat.........
I finally got a contract on my roof and they say they will be here the first of September.....boy I hope we have a dud of a hurricane season........................................:CRY :

Earl,
Prepare for the worst. Turk is on his way. Every time he leaves here and returns, we have a bunch of earthquakes. So when he gets to Florida, watch out for the hurricanes. Just mark everything with your name so we will know who to return it to when it lands out here.

Earl,
Did I hear you right or understand you correctly. Your roofing contractor will be there in SEPTEMBER and this is June now.
Wow if they are that busy out there I am going to get my roofers and head for Florida. I can call my roofer today and have shingles tomorrow. WOW

All this talk about water is creating a craving to go boating at Raystown again.

Is that 12.5:1 with iron or aluminum heads?

Steve,
That sure sounds like a opening for you.
Any special licence you would need to start roofing in Fla. ?

Aluminum heads Brent....Even with the cam I have picked, the dynamic compression ratio would still be above the 93 octane pump gas range...

Steve, I heard Florida is like Texas but humid.
Brent, do you have access to better than 93 octane? Is this for a street car or for bragging rights. At 11.5:1 you might get away with 93 octane, I have seen carburated small blocks run fine there. It's really hard to find any other reasons not too. Are you looking for us to talk you out of it or just not give you enough reasons not to to justify it?

Actually I don't know.
I really don't have anything better here than 93-94. I realize that I would probably have to mix.
Since I'm building another engine, I really wanted to get wild on this one. There's nothing like high compression and a big honkin cam to make an engine sound mean.
I want good horsepower.....bragging rights.....and streetability. I have a feeling the streetability will be flushed at this point though.
I'd like to have 550 out of a 428 size FE with Edelbrock heads and a nice cam.....I really don't see how I can do it without real high compression or having the heads professionally worked over.

OK then, how much do you want to spend? Did you budget enough to do it right? Otherwise I doubt there is any reason to really talk you ot of it.

Budget? What's a budget? hehehe
I take a long time to do something....I'll do lots of research and buy a part at a time. I like taking my time.

OK, the reason you don't want to do this motor is because you don't have the patience to wait!
Someone else will have to try to talk you out of it, I am out of reasons not to.

Get ported heads from Keith Craft Brent. If your lookin for someone to talk you out of going with 12.5 compression in a big block with a big cam.... im not your guy. Take it out to the 428 bore, then get a stroker kit to take you up to 452 CI or so. Oh, and your gonna want Forged pistons, H beam connecting rods, a billet crank, at LEAST a .550 (I would suggest .600) lift cam, oversized valves, Shelby rockers and Tunnel port heads topped off with webers.
Hey, you said "What Budget" and you want bragging rights... so thats my 2 Cents.

I think he just wants to justify building it by not having any reasons not to!
