FIA- The first Federation Internationale de l'Automobile race for Shelby was the Daytona Continental held on Feb. 11, 1963. They had the cutback doors, etc....
S/C. Not sure. Semi-competition? street/competition? I've heard it both ways.....
The FIA's, of course, were the 'team cars'.
Clay. no fair! I have a 'side-oiler' in my car. Will identify in a moment. Hold please.

side-oiler. an oil gallery along the left side of the block, from front to rear. ensures that every main and cam bearing bore receives pressure directly from the oil pump. Makes for a very durable engine, with a lot of power.

hey, c'mon Gary. Where's my prize for extra credit? I came in under the deadline by over an hour!!!!
Going to bed. Catchya in the A.M.
ps. the fia cars were 289, small block. That funny little mouth, under car exhausts, slimmer thru the hips (don't we all wish we looked like that) and a very pleasing looking car. Not all BADA$$ with the big pipes, loud noise, BB engine..... hood scoop, etc.

Let's ask CG some hard questions: (LOL)
What is a "LeMans" rod?
What was the "Shotgun" motor?
What was the biggest difference between the '69 and the '70 Boss 302 engines?
Whats the easiest way(s) to tell a 351 Cleveland apart from a 351 Windsor? (Valve covers ON!) (Multiple answers here, too!)
What was a "Y" block?
What car(s) came with a 221 cubic-inch V8? (Multiple answers!)

Nah, it ain't fair........leave her alone. Probably more than half the people here couldn't answer many of those questions. She passed.

Good, I was wondering if I was going to do the Boss thing.
Kristen, there are engines people claim to be Boss they are milled fakes. Then there are actual Ford made Boss engines, I have the correct parts for a Boss engine.
Boys lost the last game. They are out of the run for states.
Working on rifle parts right now.

Tru,
To bad the boys lost, but rifle parts. Isn't that a little extreme for losing a game?
Kristen,
There were two 351 engines and two Boss engines. The 351 Cleveland has two easy ways to spot it. One it is wider and two the valve covers have 8 bolts instead of two. And there wrere three Boss Mustangs. Le mans rods are what my big block 69 Tornino has in them along with the rest of the low end stuff for that race. And the Y Block came after the X block. Sorry, couldn't help myself. Y block is associated with the 1956/1957 T-birds but they used them in the regular cars.
S/C cars acame about because there wasn't a lot of demand for the Comp 427s and they had to sell them some way. So add street legal tires, exhausts, etc and you have a Semi/Comp car. Only 60 actual completely comp. 427s were built. They have single four barells. Also 40 gallon fuel tanks for the two trips around the track.
Edley,
Now what was the mouse motor? And what did it grow into?

Looking at the pics of the 289, in my SA original archives, it sure looks to me like the sidepipes are way different than on my 427. The 'street' version on the cover, has no sidepipes showing.... ok. i guess the FIA cars had sidepipes, they just don't have the same look. They aren't 'under car' but rather smaller. So did just the 289 streets have the under car?
oh, and I quit! I won good nuff
Thank you for ALLOWING me to keep my title. I was really worried there for a second! NOT!!
And, I guess you cudda stolen 250+ posts, as I got them a little 'under car' myself!!!
Hey, tru! Could have used your expertise about 11:30 last night....
gotta go. hubby still got the flu. Doing the kids thing, and off to school.
glad I passed..... perfectionists hate to fail.....

Mike,
I slept in until 3:45 this morning as I had a broken tooth yesterday and spent a good part of the afternoon listening to my dentist telling me about the new car and cameras he was going to buy as soon as he finished with him and I paid my bill. Really still feel quite dragy this morning from all of that. Being really OLD tends to amplify things. The kids, 60 and below will get there some day.

Kristen, the shotgun motor is the Boss 429. Sorry, I had to say that since she already answered all of the other ones.
The street 289's and 427's (actually a 428) had undercar exhaust. They didn't have the fender flairs either (I really like that body style, often referred to as "slab sides.")
Ron- I got up 15 minutes before I was supposted to leave for school. I really, really hate being late, this is the latest I have gotten up on a school day.
Oh by the way, I GOT ACCEPTED INTO VOTECH!!!!!!!!!!!

Mike,
congratulations on getting accepted into VOTECH. Now that is one thing that you won't have to worry about. How is the house project coming along now that you have the surveying done?
Clay,
How can you give Kristen a passing grade when she never even showed up until after the questions were answered? Do you think she would do the same for you in Kindergarden?

Hey kid,
Mid March is not that far away. Heck, with some really good fortune, you may even have clear ground with no snow by then.
