Steve,

The problem is they know next to nothing about computers. You turn one on and it works or it doesn't. From what I managed to get out of her, he never left the CD, as I asked her three times if she had it and she kept saying no she was sure he never left one. I asked her to send me a snap of her desktop so that I could verify just what she had and she has no idea of how to do it and it is impossible to talk her through it. And you do need to reload the sound card, even if you don't upgrade and just have to format the hard drive for any reason. I couldn't even get it out of her if he just did an upgrade or if he cleaned the drive and loaded a whole program. And she said there was a couple of other minor things that don't seem right but I was to tired and frustrated to ask what. And no way was I going to even suggest she go to the Microsoft site and look for the latest drivers and such for that sound card. I think they should get that guy back and make him straighten out his mess. I went down there about a year ago and spent two hours cleaning out a mess they had and no more. They pay those people and all they offered me was a Pepsi.

Fair enough. I understand where you are coming from.

Looks like they have a battle on their hands.

Hey CG/RB, thanks for the get well card and the picture. I really appreciate it. Hope next time you are close to Fl. or I am close to Tx. we can meet in person. Today has been a so so day....lots of pain...went to Cracker Barrell for brunch then to Wally World for a few odds and ends...the first time I have rode around in one of those little electric carts....I felt like I was under a microscope....wanted to ride around with my "boo-boo", as my grandaughter calls it, hanging out for all the prying eyes to see but the wife would not let me....oh well, she was probably right on that decision........now back home and the two of them went in for a nap........talk at you guys later..>>Earl

Earl,

Great to see that you were able to get out for a little while. I know how boring it can be just having to sit around, no matter how you feel. Just take it easy and you will soon be back to full strength and going like usual.

Okay guys, the bark thingy is on sale at Heartland for $39.95.

Is that a good deal?

They say you can use it on the neighbor's dog.

Yeah, I put 10" poured walls all around 9 feet high. So when the crew leader got to the fire place cement, he didn't want to build the pit as I designed it, so, I ended up with a solid pilar of cement, 4 foot by 6.5 foot with two liners in the middle. Man that is one big block of concrete.

There are a few things I would change, but over all I like my house.

I've been planting and cutting the trees. Put in 185 and need to make sure they are doing well.

185 Trees. Sounds like you planted a jungle.

No kidding our last home had about that many one an acre lot. It was really nice. I hope you got them wholesale, or better. Around here a cheap tree about 2" diameter is $75.00 and up.

We planted 85 red tips along one side of the property. They are planted three feet apart as we want a green fence in that area. They look really great, and all survived but one. It took three days to plant them after we dug the holes. Fortunantly we dug the holes with the Bobcat and a 24" auger. It only took one hour to dig every single hole.

Remember with new trees the sprinkler system most often will not put out enough water for them to survive in the dead of summer. Depending on how hot it gets and rainfall, ect.

I have also seem people drown trees by to much water as well. It is a delicate balance for a while, when they are new.

As for the bark controller. That is a good price if it is the same model. I have seem some realy cheap ones, quality wise.

And no this is not my website. I don't even know the people.

This bark thingy had the name you and Ron were tossing around on it.

I have a little over ten acres and it is a small tree farm. But I am not selling, just processing wood right now and planting blues, whites and some Norways. Got 185 new from last year, only added 15 this year.

Lost a little over two hundred last year, so we shall see. I hit ten feet this year on my maples, so I need to make a decission, sell or leave alone. There are only 30 to 50 in that range.

Darn Tru,

No wonder you have so much work to do. After looking at that wooden engine in another post, I had a great idea for you and those long, snowed in days. Why don't you carve a full sized Cobra out of wood. Make the doors and everything work and put in a wood engine and think of all the write ups you would get. Heck, maybe Shelby himself would put his name on it.

Tru:
How much do you want for the Maples? And would they survive in this Texas heat? I would probably have to ship a truckload in order to break even. I sure do like the way the Maples look in the fall.

Send the link for the bark control, I 'll look at it for you. If it is the same that is a great price.

Ron, I sure am glad you are watching out for me. Coming up with ideas to "fill" those long winter months with activity.

I have now started doing a rain dance for Ron, on a daily basis to help the grass grow in your area. We wouldn't want you to miss a day of mowing.

I'll talk to the rain god and make sure it only rains at night, so the grass is fresh for mowing...each day.

Yeah, thanks.

You do not want them, they would have to be balled and that costs a ton. They run about $150.00 retail, $90. to $100 for ten footers, balled. So, if a crew comes in, I would get something like $50.00 each.

I can ship you yearlings. What do you want? I have probably 100 in great shape, I could send you 20 bare root. Do you want them?

Tru,

You don't need to do the rain dance. I have been out 4 times so far this morning to start mowing and every time it starts to rain. I come in and 10 minutes later the sun is out. Those weeds are knee high now. I am starting to hate lawnmowers.

Ron:
Kristen's idea of a goat is sounding better every day.

Before long you will need a bush hog for the front yard.

Tru:
Not many maples around here because of the heat in the summertime. I am not sure they like those 110-112 days. They are really nice trees though. I can't even imagine what shipping would be on twenty of those. Of coarse bare root it wouldn't be all that bad.

Different subject:
We got our tax appraisal today for our home. The value went up over forty grand. I think I'll just sell my house to them. We have had to fight them every year on this house. Last year it was over two hundred thousand over valued. We made four trips and finally threatened to sue them before they resolved the issue. Looks like we are in for another round.

I have another question

We have a HP 2610xi All in one, printer, fax, copier, scanner and photo printer. It is a very nice "new" unit.

The question is. Do I leave it on all the time or turn it off when not on the computer. It would make sense to turn it off, right? But then how do I get my faxes if I am not here to turn it on?

I tried to contact HP, they have not responded. I am concerned about leaving it turned on because of the LED screen on the machine. Don't they have a short lifespan? This thing was reasonably expensive and I do not want to tear it up, or wear it out too fast.

Ron, you need a radio controlled lawn mower, just sit back on the porch with a cool one of your choice, and mow that lawn remotely. Now there is a project for Lil Mikie........Hey Mikie you think you can tear yourself away from the KK Calender girls long enough to help Ron out with this??????????????

Ahhhhh, Steve, taxes, ain't they fun.................................

Steve,

I have a H.P. Copier, Fax machine and I leave it on a lot of the time. Hasn't hurtmy digital display any. But you can call H.P. at this number. 800-474-6836. They have a habit of being slow to respond to e-mail. I guess they get a lot of tech questions and it just takes time.

And yes, Kristen's idea of a goat is sounding better every minute. A whole heard of them. I am still trying to get all of that old carpet cut up so I can feed it into the garbage can a little each week. To wet to mow so I have been workling on that.

Earl,

Boy would I love to have a remote control mower that I could just sit in a lawn chair and run by joy sticks. I am to old for all of this stuff and it just keeps raining. And it is really humid today too.
