Tru,
Idea # 1,002. Cut the darn letters off the tire. Then make some out of WHITE rubber and glue them on. Use a glaze over the new letters so they can't get dull or tarnish.

Guys....I hate to say it....but I think this thread is wearing itself down. I think I'm gonna cry. I wanted to see it make it to 5000 posts.

I have no intention of letting the only thread I moderate just die off.....
The end of May is like December; really really busy for everybody! (for me anyway, it's terribly busy!)
This thread ain't going anywhere- besides, we're just waiting for the talkie bird II (steve- remember he's on 'vacation') to come back
Ron has been hit or miss lately. And young Mike is definitely AWOL. Definitely. Has to be a girl, wouldn't ya say??? (since he can't drive - yet!)

Just wanted to wish everyone a safe, memorable Memorial Day
weekend. For me, it will be quiet, since I just got home from an
umbilical hernia surgery. My stomach rips when I change position
as in standing to sitting so I think cobra driving may have to wait.
This was the last of a few I have had in the past year - just
bringing the old body up to like new - like fixing up an old car I guess!
Anyway - be safe, have fun, and take a minute to thank those who went
before us to make this possible.

You better enjoy Algebra Mikey.....because if you're still wanting to be an engineer, it will never get any easier....wait till you get to Calc 3 & 4!!!!

Blykins,
Remember Summer is here and the posting always slows way down then. Tru and all of the guys who have to dig tunnels to see the sun are out enjoying seeing real ground again. And many of us are either doing yard work, going on vacations , or just doing stuff that can't be done in the Winter, which includes driving. Come next Winter and the posting will take off again. I have to go over to a friends house today and take her printer apart to see what has locked up the cartridge carriage. Normally I wouldn't waste that much time on an older printer, but she has offered me a 6 pack of Diet Pepsi.
Mike,
Forget being an engineer and go into Quantum Physics. Then Algerbra will seem like a comic book to you. Believe what Blykins said. It won't get easier, but anything that is easy usually isn't worth much. The better basics you learn, the easier it will be when you get to Calc. and the real stuff. Hang in there and don't get discouraged, you will make it.
Oh, by the way, they showed the Ghosts on the History Channel last night and I must admit some of the people that they talked to and the places they showed were really very interesting. Now if I could just meet one of them.

I don't know about gall bladders but the day after this hernia operation
is definately a stay at home day - OUCH! Thank God for modern
medicine as in pain pills.

I was just curious if it was two days or two weeks, or two years? Modern medicine has come a long way in supressing pain.

Had two done in the 1960's.A few years apart.
Left 3" scars and each time required 3-4 day stay post op.hopefully they have improved the procedure.

hello. I'm still here. Doesn't look like anyone missed me...
Four tires are all scraped. One wheel is 'degreased'. Gross. Very dirty on the inside (under the car side) of the wheel. Guess I'll get to the others in a bit. Just sent the hoodlums off to their cousins' birthday party. Finally get the computer. What a wild day. Kindergarten graduation, end of year party for 2nd grader, and the hoodlums were scattered all over..... Lots to do, lots to do. Finally all done with school. Sorry you're not done, yet, Mike! Boys finished exams yesterday. Moody boy did fine; mostly A's, couple of B's. Smartie boy made all A's. Got to go to lunch with the school president for all A's all year. (He's the one that thinks he's a cool dude, and will get the cobra - don't think so....)
little cobra girl went to grandparents after graduation, think she needed some TLC. dragged hither and yon around here.... big girl went to six flags over texas with a friend. will be home shortly. Scrapbook tonight!!! better get out there and wash the other 3 wheels. After this step, will spray paint the inside of the tire black - to cover up the goodyear/eagle on the inside. too much trouble to scrape that off, too! Then comes the tire black stuff. then paint the letters back on. Should be done this weekend. I'll keep ya posted. Gary got his csx car from shelby today. He is really pumped. Called me twice!!! Once to say he wanted his jack stands back. Suggested he go buy new ones, and I would pay for them. Save him mucho time and trouble coming over here and jacking up my car, replacing his stands with new ones I haven't bought yet, and then taking his home. What a hassle. Just buy new, and I'll pay him back. He had an extra hour today, so he did just that. Might go over in the a.m. to check it out. He doesn't think it'll be ready for Tulsa. He got the car (the first time) the night before we all left for Tulsa LAST YEAR. bummer. Anyway, he said the car looks 10x better than the first time. I'm soooo glad it got fixed correctly.
hmmm. who keeps posting while I'm typing? I've gotten 2 email notifications that someone has posted to this thread- all while I'm typing away. Will put pics in gallery of tire progress. Couple of cute ones..... Will add them to thread eventually.
Kristen

Like I said, it wasn't me. Lathroscopic or something is the term nowadays. 4-8 hour stay post op from what I saw on WebMD, but no mention of back to "normal" feeling.

alright, flip with hernia thing, flipper with gall bladder. hmmm. no help in either department. I guess that's a good thing. Now c-section, having babies, all that girlie stuff, I can help out there!!
I don't think laporaoscopy is as bad as invasive surgery used to be.... a few days, I'd say. (Have had that, but don't know about the gall bladder part of it)
TMI. SORRY.

Hi Flip, I hope whoever it was recoups faster than I am with my surgery. It is a (literally) pain in my side...... They could not do the laproscopic due to my 10" appendix scar so they had to go in from the back...lots of back pain also. Good luck to them..>Earl

Last March I started my body rebuild with hernia repairs for two
linguinal and one umbilical hernia. I had laporaoscopy on all with
mesh for the linguinals. The umbilical herniated again so once
my knee joint replacement wasn't bugging me I had the umbilical
repaired with the mesh this time and there are six puka's around
my belly button (none the first time, just in the button itself I guess)
and judging from the ouch factor, no way will this one herniate again!
No way do I want to sneeze!
I was in and out the same day and should be ok in a couple of days. No
fun at the moment. Hoping I can get in and out of the Cobra by Monday
so I can get at least one day on the road.
For those that can - enjoy the weekend!

Gall bladder, laproscopic procedure, back to work 4 days later. Linguinal hernia, conventional surgery, (which I refer to as my linguini hernia) 2 days flat on my back and another week before I felt like I could move with relative freedom and get back to work. Much more uncomfortable than the gall bladder and a lot longer to heal.
Bypass , conventional surgery, don't remember anything about the 1st day post op except for when they took the tube out of my neck, that one hurt. Sugery on Monday released from hospital on Friday. Really, really don't want to cough for a couple of weeks and shoot yourself rather than sneeze.
Was ready to go back to work after 4 weeks but doctor and wife made me wait 5.
Two years after the bypass and I really have to think about it to remember I had it. Scar is almost completely gone and the only thing I have left to remind me is a pair of clips they used to hold the sternum together with when they were closing things up. Can still feel them under the skin but don't cause any problems.
